We lost my mother last night, she had a heart attack at about 10:30 monday night and died about a half hour later, she had not been sick but was 91 and her memory was starting to fail, my brother was with her yesterday and said she was in good spirits in fact all of my brothers and sister as well as myself talked to her by phone yesterday so that was a blessing. I will miss her so much as all of my family will but we know she's in a better place. We will be heading to Calif for the funeral I think on wednesday or thursday. :( She was and always will be an angel.

My condolences on your loss :(
What a great picture - she was beautiful!

So sorry to hear about your Mom.
Mine passed on in 1983 (her name is Jean, also) and I know how challenging it is/will be for you to be without her in this world.

"However you got here,
Why ever you came
You could not have come, unless Invited
By the Soul of the Woman, who loaned you her Heart,
While helping you grow your own." AmyLee, Iroquois Medicine Woman

I'm thinking about Jean a lot too lately..wondering how she's coping.

When my Dad died unexpectedly, it was AWFUL. We all know it's coming one day, but it doesn't make a lick of difference when it happens.

But, my mother's my best friend and always has been...I LOVE this song by Celine Dion but it brings me to tears listening to it EVERY TIME.

O domino, thank you for shareing that beautiful song, I'm crying as I am writeing this, in fact thanks to all of you for your prayers and concern for my self and my family. It was a hard trip and I know it's going to take awhile to get used to momma being gone, but she'll aways live on in my heart and my memories, I have a video of her leading the exersizes at the retirement home she lived at ( maybe I can get in shape with her leading the way) and a message on both my cel and home phone that I don't delete, just so I can hear her voice. I loved her sooo much.

Jean,
Here is a poem that I have found to be comforting.

DO NOT STAND AT MY
GRAVE AND WEEP

Do not stand at my grave and weep,
I am not there, I do not sleep.

I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glint on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain.
I am the gentle autumn rain.

When you wake in the morning hush,
I am the swift, uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circling flight.
I am the soft starlight at night.

Do not stand at my grave and weep.
I am not there, I do not sleep.
Do not stand at my grave and cry.
I am not there, I did not die!

Do not stand at my grave and weep.
I am not there, I do not sleep.

I am the song that will never end.
I am the love of family and friend.
I am the child who has come to rest
In the arms of the Father
who knows him best.

When you see the sunset fair,
I am the scented evening air.
I am the joy of a task well done.
I am the glow of the setting sun.

I am not there, I do not sleep.
Do not stand at my grave and cry.
I am not there, I did not die!

Peace to you, dear gentle woman.

Oh Jean, I'm sorry I made you cry! But, it IS a beautiful song, isn't it?

I think it's WONDERFUL that you have video of her! We were SO glad we had the video of my dad at our wedding, but it's hard to watch, isn't it? ((hug))

Now, WHATEVER you do, make sure you get one of those little tape recorders and TAPE her messages! Things can and DO happen and you'll be just heartbroken if you lose them somehow. I know some services automatically erase long-saved messages without any warning, so please make sure you make a copy.

domino I needed a good cry, guess I was holding things in to much so tuesday was my letting it out day and that song really helped, I'm doing much better now, getting the thank you cards made out and emptying boxes, you know how that goes. Thanks for the tip on recording those phone messages I saved, will do that for sure.

It DOES take a bit of time, doesn't it? It's hard when you're in the middle of arrangements and greeting others. Take your time and have ALL the good cries you need. She WAS a beautiful woman and she looked like a real dear. (((hug)))

And, I'm glad to hear you'll be recording it!! My mother had a recording of Payton she just loved and was religious about making sure she went in and re-saved it. One day, she just hit the '7' a bit too quickly and bang, it was gone. She was SO upset. It was actually HER recommendation that you record it for prosperity.
