Say gpjoe, that is for draw activated pod mods. Where you don't press a button to fire, but just puff like a cigarette.
It has to be, otherwise what else could it be? But it isn't always this way for everybody since the juice (including flavor), wattage, boost, and heaven knows what else can effect this too. I don't experience this at all here with my Orions. But I vape freebase 18mg-24mg most of the time. I also vape 70VG, what percentage are you using?I don't get the same thump from the same juice (or higher 48-50mg) in a Boulder Rock, Mjet, or Suorin Drop. I'm wondering if it is the Orion pod and the MTL airflow design that is contributing to the throat hit.
Oh that's funny. You're absolutely right, and I never noticed.Got mine from Breezy, and another on the way. Once it got here I thought it looked familiar. It's a Reo Grand mini-me:

Well, I tried some Mr Salt-E Liquid at 45mg, which is fine in my other pods, and set the Orion to a tight MTL draw and it was harsh enough to make me cough. Not sure what the PG content of Mr Salt-E is, but I'm figuring that since it's fine in my other pods, the harshness must be a variable with the Orion.
I emptied the pod and changed to a DIY custard at 20mg - 70 VG thinking the lower nic would help. Not as bad but still a bit harsh for MTL on the Orion.
I'm using a .5-ohm pod at the lowest power setting.
It's a bit disappointing to me as I didn't get the Orion to use as a direct lung device - I have plenty of those. I got it as a possible longer-life replacement for my stick mods doing low-power MTL.
It’s a great dtl and restricted dtl device. Not a good true mtl
Ah... am in the US and when I run out the door I am more than likely to grab one of my Orions than one of my sticks or box mods. Even sometimes I go to another room like make something in the kitchen, I'll often grab an Orion and bring it with me for that time.So far, the stick mods are better, for me, at a much lower price point.

I keep mine at my desk or in my spare room which I call my vape stockroom. I don't leave them all over the house because I would lose track of what was where. So, just to be clear, I have mods all over the house. REO Grands, dual battery regulated mods, mech tubes, Suorin Drops, Juuls, Myjets, Boulder Rocks...and I use them all. As I type this I am sitting in the kitchen with two Grands, and Orion, and more than a few stick mods. I may grab any one, at any time.
Sounds like you generally don't get enough nic. I generally when I MTL, puff and don't really inhale into my lungs much. So even chain vaping this way with 24mg I still might not be getting enough.I am still dual using - 5 years into vaping I still smoke two butts per day, down from a pack. I find that even if I chain vape 6mg juice in my mods, I still crave a smoke. With 40-50mg juice in my pods, and especially the Juul, I can take a few puffs and be satisfied for a while. Also noticed that my dual used has gone down a bit with the high nic stick mods and the Juul.
I have a Boulder Rock and I really hate it. The fire button is in a weird spot to fire for one. Then when you thumb fire it, the light is blocked by your fingers on the otherside. The pods leak all of the time. And when wiping them down, that tiny plug likes to pop off and get lost.I can grab a couple Boulder Rocks at ten bucks apiece and head out the door knowing I'm all set for hours of MTL using 50mg juice with no tightness in my chest or hacking.
No, I want to know more how you got your Rock to vape nicely. I believe the Boulder Rock thread is still open and we can continue there.Never had a problem with the Rock. No heat, no melting, good flavor, good vapor, no harshness, no dry hits. I don't care that I can't see the light, it doesn't tell me anything anyway - until the battery is dead and it flashes - but I know it's dead cause I didn't get any vapor on the last hit. I love mine, and think they are a steal at ten bucks. I have used the same pod for weeks at work (well, when I was working) taking a few 10-minute breaks for my nic-fix here and there (as frequent as an average smoke break) and the battery and juice on a single Rock would easily get me through an 8-hour day. I used two in rotation for 8 months at work and still use them today.
