I do realize that Billw50, but with a device that's already challenging to last all day on a single charge I would rather see 4.2v after charge. That additional 8% would be at least helpful. Plus, if 4.1v was the intent, I would see a blue light at charge completion at a lower voltage. With a device that's less than a month old and has not been used much that never achieves the intended full charge it does make me question the quality of the battery or possibly the charging algorithm.

All in all, I absolutely love this device for many different reasons. So I'm not complaining really. It just surprised me after seeing another users experience with seeing a blue light at the end of charge, a light I've never seen on either of my devices. So don't read into this that I'm dissatisfied because I'm not. But I did wonder if this was common or if I was doing something wrong. Either way... great device I would buy again.

EScribe just came out with a new service pak, I just installed it and it does have some changes in it for charging.
I didn't have any problems with mine but I can tell the difference in the way its charging, give it a try and let us know.

I only see the blue when it is on the charger. As soon as I take a puff, it's green. Mine probably doesn't charge all the way either.

I think that's normal DaisyD. When using the Orion it will show the power level you choose to vape at, either white, blue, or red unless you use the Replay feature (which I always do) then it will always be green. So the color changes mean different things depending on if you're vaping or charging.

Good to know Lowjumper, I'll have to check that out! I'm on version 2.0sp18. What version did you update to? I thought the updates were supposed to happen automatically, but I might be wrong about that and need to manually update. It might have been only the device firmware that updates automatically when you open escribe, not really sure maybe others can chime in.

Thanks for the info.

I'm talking about when I double click the fire button to check the battery level.

OK, I understand better now. Does it go through the normal color changes as the charge depletes ending in red or blinking red? It's hard to believe that one puff would go from 100% to <95% so I get your point.

For now I guess I just won't worry about it, there's just too many questions I can't answer so I'll just enjoy the Orion and if the battery charge starts lasting less time I'll look into replacing the battery. Until then... still my favorite pod.

I use the international version.

OK. I have no idea how to correlate that with the US version. Can you post a screenshot of the battery charging functions you found different?

I went on the escribe web site to check for the latest version and found the US version is 2_SP17 and the Int version is 2_SP17_INT. I see in the DNA Go forum there are links to both the 18 and 19 US versions, but these aren't on the official download page. Not sure what to make of that other than maybe beta versions. I have no idea. And I do have the automatically check for service packs checked in escribe.

Oh well, just another mystery to ponder I guess.

I got the international version when replay first came out and it wasn't available on the US version.
The service paks download automatically but you have to install them.
Been reading on the Evolv DNA Forum for the last hour, looks like none of the orions will end at 100% charged all the time, mine will vary from 100% to 96%, that appears to be normal:yawn:!

To play around a little, try changing toe mod resistance a little and see if it changes how it charges.
(ie. all of my evolv mods come with resistance set at .004 but the tested setting for my therion is .0031)

My Q came today so a few thoughts on it -vs- The DNA Go....

Looks exactly the same. The side panels are not carbon fiber, the USB port is moved to the front which I like better than the Go versions flap.

I tried the new 1 ohm coil and a .50 that I have for the Go. I am not noticing any difference whatsoever in the vape. Flavor about the same and vapor production about the same...

I like the knurling on the air flow bezel of the Q pods and the fill port cap appears to be exactly the same as the Go...

I put the .50 pod from the Go onto the Q and it vaped fine, no issues. I hear the .25 pods won't work but I don't have one to try...

At about half the cost of the Go, I'd say the Q is a winner. I think I paid $34 for it and a pack of 2 extra 1 ohm pods were like $9...

Mod resistance setting will have no affect on charging.
Here is the latest Escribe software, you can choose with version of firmware from the Tools tab/ Apply Service Pack
Early Firmware and EScribe Suite
Edit: it seems I forgot the link.

So yesterday I made a post about the Orion battery being full charged even though EScribe reported it as 4.135 volt (approx). I have a 2 cell 250C that also reports the cell at 4.135 volts when charging stops, so I pull out one of the 18650's and measured with a meter and sure enough it was at 4.2 volts. While I understand how this can be happening with the Orion and it's simple charger the charger on a 250C board is much more complex and shouldn't be happening. This is a known situation for the Orion but not the 250 C

Breazy.com has the Orion Q for 25.00, the Orion DNA Go for 45.00, and either the original or Q pods for 8.00 for a 2 pack. Not bad deals at all. I've used Breazy a couple of times and had very quick shipping and deliveries. Oh, and free shipping CONUS for 50.00+

Ordered from them in the past and had issues, terrible customer support so I said never again...

Now I generally just order most stuff from Element Vape even if they are a bit more than Breazy...

Yes, it goes through all the colors. Last night I stayed up all night binging The Magicians on Netflix (don't judge me) and it lasted over 24 hours before needing a charge. I probably wasn't vaping a lot, in fairness, but that's pretty good anyway.

Great find gnees! But for clarity, that is only the Orion Q for those that wonder. Another bonus is that they only require 39.99 for free shipping CONUS, which is quite generous. And an additional bonus is that they provide further discounts for for veterans, which is always nice.

For those looking for the Q, this is the best deal I have seen.
