Hey, Beachers.....sorry to be so late. Been dealing with the kitties ever since getting them home. They are scared to death....we have to corner them to catch them and love on them. So we been sitting in the basement, waiting for some crumbs of attention from them. The little girl promptly got up inside the recliner and would not come out, the little boy went back in the crate and just stayed there. So we came upstairs, ate dinner, and then went back down to coerce them into loving us. We are keeping them in the basement until they get used to us and the litter boxes since that is where we keep the litter boxes. Do not want another Oreo on our hands. We did hold and pet them as much as we could but they definitely are on the wild side.

I did not back read but a couple of pages and I am about 5 pages behind so I will go back and see what I missed.

It's probably not so much that they are wild, but just getting used to you and the new environment. Sun told me to keep Cadeau in the bathroom for 3 days because she was hiding. Her liter box and food stayed in there, and I have a scratching post thingy that hangs on a door knob in there. She was always hiding behind the toilet when I went in, but she always came out for me to pet her, and she'd let me put her on my lap. She was sleeping with me by the 3rd night. If you have a spare bathroom, I think it may be better than the size of the basement. There won't be as many places to hide, and they'll get used to you faster. Cornering them to pet them may only scare them more. They can come to you in the bathroom.

I KNEW IT!!!!!!!!!!!

Give them time, they will love you both!

LOL, jj....just read your post....I did not do that on purpose...thought I was getting here before the mass exodus.

Gonna have to so some work on the kitties, we need them comfortable. While hubs and I were cooking dinner, a big mouse one ran right across the kitchen and into the living room. I wonder how many of them we have....and they are all different colors and sizes! I think they went out and got all their friends, "Look, guys, no cats here...and the owners are stupid and are not killing us". Well, I won't kill them, but I am to the point where the kittens will get double treats if they do! :toast:

I totally agree with you, it would be easier in one room.....but I really want them to know where their litter boxes are, and they only have access to two rooms in the basement. We have the other rooms shut off. I think they will be ok as soon as they get used to their new surroundings. They sure are cute....but all kittens are. I would have loved to take all of them....there probably were 20+ kittens and same number of adult cats. Made me sad again.
