I'll definiately give it a try. Such a tinkery hobby, but there's such a feeling of joy in getting it done. I was pretty dang proud of those coils even if they didn't end up working just right. :) I love learning how to do things, and making stuff like that. Plus it's great to always know I'll have fresh coils when I want them, and better quality than manufactured wicks.

Absofragginlootly!

All of you guys are super fantastic!

We kind of are, aren't we?

Good morning beachmates :D

48 hrs in 4 days. I'm tired. See y'all laters. Time for some sleep!

What's the problem? That's only 12 hours per day, well, per night.

Please don't kill me. I hope you're off for a while now. :)

Pleasant dreams, TinkerBabe.

By the way, now with just the one side coil, the vapor is amazing. Just have to get more flavor now. It's not even quite as good as it was with the standard clearo coils.

You should be able to leave that coil in and change the cotton with less. Give that a go and see.

Oh, and more flavor generally means more Power (higher Voltage or Wattage - whichever you are using) and more Air. If more Power doesn't do it just right (say it gets harsh), you can make that air hole a little larger, too.

Glam,

Why didn't you offer this up?

Hi Tink! Sorry for the extra day but then again, there are many who wish they could do that. I wouldn't, but they would. :D
Tired as all get out -- heading for the couch. dh went the extra mile and cooked out hamburgers tonight! I had a hamburger last night and a leftover for lunch today. Think I will eat this one naked. Not me, no bun.

Finally...a really interesting post......Sun eats her hamburgers naked!! :D:facepalm:

2nd build.... maybe not enough cotton this time. Now a single 30gauge 3mm, 7 coil wrap that reads 1.9 (probably 1.8 in a little bit)... nice vapor, same flavor. This cotton balance is going to do me in. LOL

Picture is blurry, sorry. Not sure why my camera isn't focusing now. It usually takes fairly decent pics.

I twisted it just enough to get it through the coil (didn't even have to use the wire lead to do it, but it's still kind of fuzzy... however, once I primed it, it looked like it was barely there.

Do you know what size your wick holes are? In my AGA-T2, they are about 2.4mm to 2.5mm. I use a 3/32” drill bit for coils (2.38mm). 3mm seems mighty large for a wick hole in something like that Maj. You can gauge the size of the hole with drill bits.

7/64” = 2.78mm
3/32” = 2.38mm
5/64” = 1.98mm
1/16” = 1.59mm

If you make the coil about the same size as the wick hole, there should be no choking issues anywhere (once you get the amount of cotton worked out properly). If the coil is too much larger than the wick holes and the cotton cannot fill the coil when it swells, the coil may well get too hot and glow red. This would make the vapor taste harsh, and may burn the cotton if it goes on too long.

Replaced cotton with about twice as thick of a piece. still able to thread it nicely without a wire lead. It still was 'moveable' in the coil, but had a teeny bit of resistance where the other piece slid through too easy, and this one didn't disolve into nothing when juiced. So we'll see.

Sorry guys, I know this isn't a coil thread, lol, but I do appreciate all the suggestions and help.

that helped the flavor A LOT! Must just not have had enough wick on the last one. It was wet, but probablyl not making enough contact with the coils.... my my my such a touchy little thing. LOL

It's OK. It's an ECF Thread, and that makes talking coils, wicks, tanks, drippers, and all of that OK.

Yes, it's touchy. And if you want to get an idea of what it would be like on the Mech Mod, set the Vamo to Voltage mode, and set it to 4.2V. Also, make sure it is set to RMS, if yours has both options of RMS and AVG. Some only include RMS now, and that's the best anyway.

Yeah, according to most information the vamo v5 is only rms, but thanks to a pbusardo video I found out that it is both and it comes set to 'mean'/avg, so I changed it to rms.

Thanks for the 'mech' test. That's interesting to know.
