That's what I wondered about, too.

Buddie hated to be left in the house alone. I we had the big front door open and she could see us, she was fine. If not she'd try to chew her way out. We had to replace some trim.

That is why she got left out when we were gone. Loved the heater for the dog house. :)
And we had great neighbors that would keep an eye on her.

How was the house?

House was fine....they were curled up asleep together on the kitchen rug. I have most rooms shut off because they have a tendency to eat anything that is small enough to get in their mouths....they make me nervous cause the older female has eaten at least 3 of my cats' toy mice, and has had some stomach problems from those. I have to go through the house and remove all cat toys when I know she is coming. And I do not know of any loose cat toys....but there could still be one lingering under a bed or a chair.

High maintenance!!

We left puppy pads out for Buddie at night. In the family room which was linoleum. DH got to deal with those. Besides feeding her that was about all he did on a regular basis. I'm saying this because he wanted the dog in the first place and was going to take care of her.
