Hey, Beachers.....checking in. Sis is on her phone AGAIN! (For an old lady, she sure does get and receive a lot of texts and phone calls.)

And hubs is esconced in front of the tv.....watching game 7 of the world series.

So I thought I would see what is happenin' here.

Oh wow, that's great VG

Yeah, I get something every once in a while but mostly just Oxtail for making soup ... amazing how no one wants that :?:
And I'm always being offered deer meat but rarely take it unless I know who brought it in

OK, this is going to be a stupid question.... Is this really the actual tail of an Ox?? :?: And, if so, who thought "hey, let's boil this tail and see how it tastes"?

    ;) Peeking are we :D

I can understand why! You have to know the hunter and the way he kills. I never liked deer meat until my neighbor gave me some to try about a year or so ago. I could always taste the "wild" in it. While repairing a computer for him a while back, I got to watch some of his hunting videos. He had his young son with him, and was teaching him about how to do it. The boy was already a good shot, but John was teaching him about how to select a deer, when to shoot, and when to just let them go. I think this man has probably let more deer go than most other hunters have ever seen in their lives. It was amazing. The deer has to be totally relaxed and feeding. And the shot has to be perfect for an immediate drop. If they were scared at all first, and especially when they run, the adrenaline ruins the meat.
Huh? Never heard that before but it makes some sense :)

It's the tail of a beef

And I have no idea but it works great for beef stock :D

I love oxtail.....braised, it makes a rich fatty sauce that has a delicious beef taste. I never see it in the stores tho. It would make great soup.

I was getting a little hungry. Until now :glare:

Nice day, thanks. Granddaughter said she came to visit with us, but I think she really wanted to see the kittens. She is a dog person, but loves cats when they belong to someone else. I fixed us a nice lunch....we tormented the cats all afternoon, she left at 4:30, then hubs came home. I was busy most of the day.....and really did nothing except laundry, cooking, and yakking. :)
