Well I love Custards and have tried a lot of them . I now know what I like most.. It must have a lot of flavor and have different notes to make it complicated to the point I don't get to bored of just the custard..I like the eggy flavor. Now after putting what i like in the E-juice I found out that man I love this stuff . And would find it hard to pay what I was paying for so so custards. Have you found that you love your creations so much that you don't buy already made e juice? Love this DIY sub forum and the help offered here.

I have many recipes I enjoy more than any I ever bought premade. But I still have the nagging suspicion there are vendor juices I've never tried that I'd like even better. I didn't really use many different vendors before I began DIY, so 'what-if' will always be in the back of my mind. When I get the occasional opportunity, I eagerly try a 'best of' flavor from any vendor. I haven't yet found any that tempt me to quit DIY and buy premade juice instead.

There are several premade liquids I'd like to try - ones considered super-hyper-ultra-fabulous. When I see the price tag and mentally compute how many batches of my favorite DIY recipes I can make for that price, I always decide I'll just have to live without knowing how the expensive stuff tastes.

I did not try a lot of vendors before I started making my own. There was one whose juice was all good, but the others I didn't care for at all. I don't think I could have stuck with vaping if those not-good ones were all I knew of.

Some of my home made is not so good, but the good ones are as good or better than anything else I've tried. The learning curve for me was not so much how-to or who had the flavors I liked best, it has been figuring out what kind of flavors I like, if that makes any sense. I thought I'd like fruits and candies and all that stuff. But I always go right back to the bakery.

Also, I'm a cheapskate so I love that I can have as much as I want for so little cost. I can tailor my juice to my whims too.

I still have 2 pre-mixes that I can't do without. Otherwise, all DIY.

One of the problems I've had with premix is that I find myself getting tired of them too quickly. I've tried modifying a few but found it a waste of time. With DIY you can always keep evolving a recipe. I really like HS Desert Ship and Highway but I have 3-4 recipes for each flavor. The differences in the recipes are subtle but each one is unique in it's own way. Having variations of favorite flavors is really important to me. Premix doesn't offer that luxury.

Out of curiosity, which ones would you like to try? If I had any of the ones you were interested in trying, I would PIF you for all the recipes you have shared.

I haven't had any vendor juices in months. I like being able to adjust my own mixes as I get bored with them. I don't always think my juices are superior to vendors but with a a handful of different flavors and some nic base I can have thousands of different adjustments or recipes to suit my taste that day and right then and there.

Susan, that is the nicest offer I've ever gotten, and I really appreciate it. I could never accept that kind of generosity, but thanks very much :)

I've been hoping eliquidsamples.com would re-open, finish 'maintenance', or inspire someone else to offer a similar service. I've had them bookmarked for a long time, hoping to try their 1ml samples of various liquids. What a cool idea they had/have.

Yeah what he said :)

Personally I find a lot of them way overpriced, considering what it is. Just like HIC said, you could make 10-15 bottles of something similar, for what they charge for one bottle. Most are not really for me, I can sit there all day and taste 100 different flavors and maybe find a handful I like. There are tons of recipes on here that offer the same type of complexity as so called highend vendor juice. Like everyone else, I can do my own thing, make what I like. There are a lot of recipes that I make I truly enjoy and keeps me vaping more. I do love my creations, and a lot of the ones that are shared in these forums. Some people are truly creative in these recipes.

I have to give that a big resounding "Yes" I prefer to make my own juices but there are the very few vender juices that I stumble across once in a while that will blow me away. I save a bundle on making my own juice but once in a while I still splurge and treat myself if I run across that once in a life time vender juice.

I've only been at this a couple days, and I'm already finding myself gravitating more towards my DIY juices..

I have to stop myself from doing that, though, because I still have a boatload of pre-made commercial stuff which does have a shelf-life...

I've been attacking my menthol & my strawberry shortcake.. Already whipped up a larger 2nd run of each.. Probably should have done even a larger size, but I'm trying to do this in a somewhat controlled manner...

Honestly, I can't wait until I draw down the stock of the pre-made commercial stuff -- so I can start doing even more DIY... :headbang:

I think I still have at least 15 different bottles of commercial juice sitting around collecting dust (bought before I was all in on DIY). Every once in awhile I try one out and for me, each time I like them less and less. I'm not saying my creations are better than all store bought juice, but I definitely prefer them. Taste is subjective and YMMV (Yada, yada, yada  )

Cheers,
Steve

I tried a gazillion different vendor juices before I discovered DIY. Most of them were incredibly disappointing, except for some from Five Pawns, which I loved but were too pricey for regular vaping! Since discovering DIY and finding some fantastic recipes (thanks, HIC and others), I rarely feel the need to try ready made juice - I love most of what I make, and find the vast majority of vendor juice extremely overflavored for my taste;)

Strawberry Shortcake sounds great. Can you share your recipe? Thanks.

Once I learned how cheaply e-liquid can be made (about a month after I started to vape), I set about learning about the craft. I'm still learning new tricks or tips.
Once while waiting for vape mail to bring me a bunch of pre-made juice, I bought a bottle of Totally Wicked Cherry. It was really good tasting, but at $10 and change for a 10ml bottle that was the last time I bought from a vendor.

I love making my own and with over a 100 flavors to choose from, I have made some off-the-wall flavors as well as favorites. One of my big batch favorites I had made from scratch. I get really jazzed when I happen to come up with a new favorite I never heard of before.

I also have dumped a few batches out because they were too weird even for me. I have yet to mix a tobacco flavor I like. I came close one time as the taste almost made me ill. It was so close to the taste of an analog that it brought up some bad memories of being a smoker that I almost became ill. I added some menthol and gave it away and haven't made a tobacco flavor since.

I had thought that in order to be a "real" flavorist, one would have to know how to mix all kinds of flavors well. The hell with that idea.

Variety isn't all that important to me. I can eat the same thing day after day, so I'm not worried about coming up with a ton of different recipes to try. I'm in DIY for cost-and-harm-reduction. I love my local shop's Cinnamon Roll, but I'm pretty sure they have custard notes in them, so I'll be attempting to come up with something similar, even though I have about 30ml or so left of theirs.

Another local shop has a good, garden-fresh strawberry, but if I can find a good flavor to use, why spend $20/30ml?

Vaping is not a way of life for me, but I do enjoy it and plan to continue (I enjoyed smoking until it started to make me more sick than feel good). If I'm in this for the long haul, I may as well know what I'm putting into my body and save some money, while I'm at it.

17-18% Rootbeer and 3-4ml ry4 Tobacco. Find the fizzy of the Rootbeer hits like throat hit. My favorite past few months and I got to a point where I hated all tobaccos. Love the Rootbeer even on its own! LOL

I've been vaping my own juices for months now, and there's one vendor whose juices I keep going back to for their tobacco flavors. As much as I love my own creations, and recipes I've read on this site, there are 2 or 3 juices I keep on buying because they're that good.

Now I am curious which two are they?
