I unfortunately got GreenSmoke before finding this forum. I do like it, haven't wanted an analog since I first received my kit a week ago. I have smoked a few analogs, but only while waiting for the darn batteries to charge! I was a pack a day smoker, and tried the nic gum- took the edge off, but what I really like is the "ritual" and I suppose oral gratification, so ecigs seem to be a good choice for me. My questions for you experts-
1-I've been using a syringe to inject ejuice into the carts (since the tips are glued on) is this dangerous? the carts do get warm...
2- I seem to puff a lot more than I would on a regular smoke, since I don't have to go outside now-this is just at home, I still don't vape in public! Is this normal? Since there's no actual "end" to the cigarette, it's become more of a constant thing.
3- Given that I like the look & feel of GreenSmoke, what's a good alternative that would give me better battery life, and refillable carts?
I appreciate any advice!

Sorry!

Then I will tell you that everything you're doing is perfectly normal and not dangerous :)

I think you would probably like a system like Volt or Bloog or Vapor4Life, if you want your e-cig to look like a cigarette. If you wouldn't mind a bigger unit, about the size of a Sharpie marker, Liberty-Flights.com has a great unit called a Riva Special Edition for about $35 (click on the 20% discount link on the upper left corner of their site).

Backing this. I got a Riva 510 starter kit from there and I couldn't be happier. It uses cartos.

I was a light smoker, but I'm a heavy vaper, so I think you are normal.

You can damage a carto by randomly shoving a syringe in. I guess you could try the carto condom method to push juice in. Juice make sure the carto settles well on different sides afterwards and make absolutely sure it is not going to leak if you have auto batteries.

You can buy blank E9/KR808D-2 cartos at Vaporkings.com - it will say if they are soft caps. You can buy D2 cartos ar leCigs.com. And LeCig also has D2 to D1 (for you to use KR808D-1 cartos) and D1 to D2 (for a KR808D-1 battery to use D2 cartos) adapters. BTW the LeCig D1 cartos are not real KR808D-1 cartos - they don't have a slot across the carto center post and won't get as good airflow as real KR808D-1 cartos.

I started with GreenSmoke. A plus for promoting me to try something other than cigs. But - I dumped GreenSmoke - overpriced and unsatisfying. Lots of picks much, much better than Green. LF Riva kit at 40 bucks will run rings around Green. eGo-T is a good (IMO) starter choice too. But if happy with Green and it keeps you away from cigs - Green OK too (IMO).

Thanks dormouse! I use a plastic blunt tip syringe so I don't think it's doing much damage.. in conjunction with condom method. Do those blanks you mentioned work with GreenSmoke? I'm not familiar with that D1 D2 , I'm new at this, and close to ditching GreenSmoke altogether. I've seen a lot of your posts on this forum, appreciate your help!

dormouse does give great advice and yes, I think a KR808D-1 is the perfect evolution from a Green Smoke as I, too, started out with a Green Smoke (and still have it as an emergency backup in case my two KR808's fail or if my PCC fails). Totally understand where you're coming from. By the way, the Green Smoke caps do come off, they just require a little push and shove. I used to use a corkscrew to do it but thankfully, I've abandoned that whole system. (They used to be a lot easier to pull off. I got the Green Smoke back in 2009). I wouldn't bother messing with trying to refill their cartomizers, however. The E9 automatic battery (Green Smoke battery) doesn't quite stand up in comparison to the KR808D-1.

Basically, the KR808D-1 (available from multiple sites but I got mine from Vapor4Life for $16.50 - compare that to the $50 Green Smoke battery!) looks and feels similar to a cigarette. It lights up at the end and you can get either a manual (recommended, it requires that you hold a button down while inhaling) or an automatic (like the Green Smoke, activated simply by inhaling). The important difference to note between the two is that manual batteries are less likely to be damaged from liquid infiltration as this DOES inevitably happen at some point (when juice from the cartomizer leaks out of the cartridge). Because of this, you could infer that it would last longer.

So, if you like the basic setup of the Green Smoke, you can get a KR808D-1 battery, a charger, and prefilled cartomizers (just like Green Smoke offers but way better). In my honest opinion, cartomizers from SmokelessImage (VOLT cartoimizers) either prefilled with flavor or blank ones, are the best - hands down. I just got mine in today and I honestly never imagined that vaping would be this easy and enjoyable until today. Many similar choices of flavor to choose from, half the price of Green Smoke.

Don't feel bad about buying the Green Smoke, I was super stoked about mine when I had it but I wasn't in ECF then and didn't know better. Nothing worthwhile comes easy. Vaping is a life-changing endeavor and there will be hardships. I've learned one important thing from this newfound hobby: If you absolutely want to quit smoking, you'll find a way. The folks here at ECF have been extremely helpful and for this, I've always been grateful.

I hope this helps and I really hope you find what you need. I have. :)

I started with Greensmoke and it got me off cigs but I outgrew it quickly. The Volt or Bloog Maxxfusion are great choices for cig style vaping. My advice is when you're ready for a new e cig get a bottom feeding juice mod: Reo, Vmod, Old Goat, Wetbox, etc. all great choices. Also, I've got like 5 packs of Greensmoke cartos I'll sell you for cheap.

Thank you so much! I've printed this information and will refer to it when ordering my new system. GreenSmoke is still working OK for me, only 4 analogs in 10 days (and then only waiting for battery to charge) but I know I'll be stepping up. The support here is great!

1- No - no upgrades for KR808D-2. One exception - if your assembled ecig w/ cartomizer is 110mm or less long then you have 180mah short batteries. You should be able to find longer 280mah KR808D-2 aka E9 batteries at AZSmokeFree, maybe VaporKings.com, and D2 batteries at leCig. I do not know if there are super-long 350mah KR808D-2 batteries. There are zero fat battery models or mods with KR808D-2 threading because it is not a supported threading. It is threading meant for rebranders who want people locked into getting stuff from them. KR808D-1 is the supported version of the model and its threading is different from yours.

With one of the D1 to D2 adapters at leCig you could put your cartos on the PigCig fat battery at leCig or the Riva 901 at Liberty-Flights.com (because one buyer said their Riva 901 has the slotted post to let air in like the PigCig does, but not all Riva 901s have that slot if you bought elsewhere). And with the 510 to D2 adapter you could put your cartos on a Riva 510 or a 510-threaded 3.7v mod. I recommend the Rivas over Ego because Riva voltage is closer to the KR8 3.7v voltage. Ego is cooler - less voltage.

2- Just don't let yourself do it if you don't want to do it. You are the one who is in control of that. Put your ecigs in another room of the house so you have to go there to vape.

3- Buy blank KR808D-2 aka E9 cartomizers (they are not carts, they are cartos) at AZSmokeFree.com or Vaporkings.com and D2 cartos at leCig. You can also use prefills from Red Dragon, Vapure (if they still exist), Smoke 51 Duo, but not Bloog because it was the old model of Bloog that was KR808D-2 and now they use the more supported KR808D-1 threading

You can get D2 to D1 and D1 to D2 adapters at LeCig.com as well as (I think) 510 to D2 (on the left side of "to" is the battery type, right side is cartomizer type)

Don't feel bad, sweetie. Hubby and I ditched our first choice too. And everybody's preferences are different. We started out with carto's but found that we like the amount of vapor from an atomizer satisfies our need for vapor much better. Whatever gets you off of cigarettes is the right choice and none of it is money wasted.

We have only been vaping for a week but the support on this forum is invaluable!! Keep coming here and asking questions. The folks here are awesome!! Mahalo!

1) Kr8s if you want a cig look--Bloog is my choice -- or Volt. Bloog cartos. BUT you should be prepared to deal with many batteries, chargers, and a pcc if you want these and vape hard -- I run 3 chargers. If this is a hassle to you then:
2) Ego like Swedishfish or other bigger one--check the 6 posts in the ECF library for the look of the larger ones.
