15-20W.

i mean how many variables are there, i can't see what i haven't considered.

I can't Either.

Because I have used Heavily Flavored/Sweetened e-liquids in the Past with Similar Watts. And I could go Much Longer than 9ml before I needed to Re-Wick.

Now that I use Hint of Flavor, my Wicks look about the Same after 20 or 30ml as they do when I first Primed them. They last So Long, sometimes I change them just because I think I should. And not because I need to.

I recoil and rewick about once a week. Doesn't bother me. It's like lubing a bike chain or cleaning a barrel. It has to be done.
yeah i don't disagree. i mentioned that as an incidental gripe, doesn't really bother me either, but now i'm fully aware that there is a problem with my setup.

whatever...i'll keep trying and maybe post back if i crack it to help the -1 people this also affects

And really, its the coil that's gunked up, not the wick.
:)

This. I like to dry burn my coil every 1-2 days. It's not about the cotton. I can definitely taste the difference. When I first started vaping, I would keep it a lot longer, but I think my sense of taste has come back now that it's been almost two years since I quit stinkies.

Since switching to Ti, I don't dry burn any longer so I just replace the whole deal....thankfully, Ti seems to avoid gunking the way kanthal does, and I can go 3-4 days before I need to change it out.

Just build some wickless coils, problem solved
That's a good point. There are some really good YouTube videos that demonstrate the build and performance of these coils. A word of caution, you may want to get some build experience before you tackle something like that - take it from me, it can get frustrating.

O my... These youtube coils. Really bad idea. Would not recommend even to my enemy.

I made the mistake of thinking because I'd gotten proficient at microcoils on an Igo-L I could tackle some of the more challenging builds. To say many of my early attempts did not go well would be an understatement.

I prefer the taste and vapor quality of a fresh coil. I used to dry burn kanthal and replace cotton wicking daily but now that I'm using titanium I replace the coil every two days. One of the reasons I use rda's is because the simple ones (like the Tugboat v2 clones) are easier and faster for me to rebuild than rba's.

And that right there is why I sold my Evic-VT; titanium costs almost twice as much as the kanthal I get from lightningvapes.com, and I have to *aggressively* dry burn my kanthal coils every other day -- I can't afford to be replacing titanium coils that often, and titanium seems to gunk even faster than kanthal, with my super-gunk ejuice.

I like to have a fresh coil every 2 days. Fasttech is offereing 50 m of 28 guage Ti for $8.21 $8.21 Titanium Resistance Wire for Rebuildable Atomizers - 28 AWG / 0.32mm*50m at FastTech - Worldwide Free Shipping I use 6" inches of Ti wire to make a coil. 50 m = 160' = 320 coils. $8.21 \ 320 = 2.56 cents per coil or about 1.3 cents per day. Coil + cotton wick = 3 cents a day? X 365 days = $11.00 per year.

Start to finish rebuilding takes me about 15 minutes. (I keep a couple of wicked and wired rda's dry and ready to go in case I don't have time.) I like the Ti wire to be a little bit springy, so that when I pull the cotton through the spaced coil, the wraps tend to stay separated. When I started vaping I was certain I'd never be rebuilding. I was wrong about that.

I use Shiseido cotton.
Got what's probably a lifetime supply during a short period when you couldn't find any KGD, and I like it. I have tried to like XWick several times, but I don't.
I think I know what's happening - as I rewick when I sense a degardation in flavor, and sometimes that's a day, but sometimes it's a couple weeks.
And the difference has to do with "scorching" - if your wick it tight and/or you vape it a little too dry, you can scorch your wick. Just a little. A good squonk will return you to a good vape - but you've scorched the wick. When you change it - it's dark right at the coil - scorched, right?

You could try using a little LESS wick - so it's easier to keep wet inside the coil. And you said you're bottom-feeding, so squonk a little more frequently!

Wetter wick will last longer.

On the other hand - I DO think that there's a future fad possible if someone crafts a good wickless squonker. I mean, you COULD squonk every hit and vape without wick probably. What if it was better than that? A tiny pool that touches the coil? A coil that holds 3 hits of juice anyway? An "auto-squonker" that rejuices itself after every hit? Who knows - but I wouldn't be surprised, and might consider trying one!

yeah, starts to taste a bit burnt after 6mls. not terrible but bad enough for me to be rewicking every 6mls. after 9mls it's not good at all.

i just can't figure this out and it's driving me mental.

i think the only two things i haven't done are: try without sweetener (doubt this is the culprit because 0.5% of sucralose isn't a lot), try ream the small stock air hole on this atty to be bigger.

that or try rayon or something. only ever tried KGD and RxW.

anyway

I felt that way too, about rebuilding, but it actually only took about 3 months before I was doing it. :D

But I refuse to buy anything else from FT, unless that something is just not available anywhere else in the world. Life's too short to be waiting 6 wks + 1 day for pkgs to arrive. Stuff from Hong Kong can get here in 11-14 days, so there's just no excuse for the shipping from FT to take as long as it does. And yeah I know all about not ordering stuff from them that isn't actually in stock -- the thing I ordered was in stock and shipped the next day -- and took 43 days to reach me. Never again!

I got my titanium from unkamen; I included it along with the Evic-VT when I sold it. The vape is just not good enough, consistent enough, reliable enough, to justify all the hassle with titanium -- kanthal works great, everytime, and I can dry-burn as aggressively as necessary.

absolutely i'm scorching my wick. but i always make wick nice and wet before firing! i make sure of it! and like i said earlier i've tried every wick config, including quite thin. i'll take your advice and try squonk even more frequently than i already do, thanks.

100% re. "wickless" future. postless and wickless atties :) imagine taking a break from vape forums/new for a couple of years and then coming back to see what's doing the rounds.

When I started with TC it seemed like my kanthal setup tasted better. Never the less I carried on and vaped with temp control exclusively for 6 weeks. When I tried my kanthal builds after six weeks the temp control setup tasted better so I stayed with it. A lot of what we think is good, better, or best is just what we are used to. The human palete is adaptable. Titanium wire lets me make temp control builds that are as energy efficient as my 1.5 ohm kanthal builds and it makes my rda's practical enouogh to use when I'm out and about. I'll be sticking with temp control.
