If you run a LR atty at 6V it'll pop, so that's right out. Standard resistance attys run at around 2.6Ω and are a little hot for me at 6V. You tend to have to take very short switch throws or pulse the switch. Like cskent, I find attys in the 3.2-3.5Ω range to be perfect. The 4 or 5Ω rated ones run a little too cool for my personal taste.
I've found that a 6v setup with cartomizers or attys in the range mentioned above hold two advantages over a 3.7V setup with LR attys/cartos. Subjectively, I find that the 6V setup brings out the flavor of juices a little better, and more concretely, my atty's and cartos in the 3Ω+ range last longer than their LR cousins.
