I've wondered about this too, and even voiced the question in the forum, without a reply.

So, you go to an HV or VV mod. And, you use a HR atomizer. Yeah, seems pointless to me too.

yea me too. If I use a regular joye 510 on a 5v or 6v device it gives massive TH and warm vapor...if I use a HV atty it hits almost like 3.7v....pointless IMO.

I agree. IKV HV attys (I use the 306's) @6v are amazing.. Ordered a few more just today..
OK. How are high resistance atomizers at high voltage better than low resistance atomizers on, say, 3.7 volts?

From my rudimentary understanding, the only effect would be to consume battery power at a higher rate.

I want to understand the attraction. Not 'getting it' at this point.

The juices themselves have a more 'intense' flavor. For example, my Banana's Fosters from Vaperite has hardly any taste to me @ 3.7v on a 1.5ohm atty... Same juice @6v on a HV atty gives me flavor... That goes for all the juices I've tried at 3.7 w/LR vs. 6v w/ HV atty... Seems the vapor is hotter and the TH is a little more..

I understand that mathematically the wattage will be more or less the same, but again IMO the flavor difference is immense. It almost seems like I'm rediscovering all my juices..

That's the best way I can explain the difference...

My 2 cents. I made my 5v usb pt...used a reg 510 (not sure what actual ohms were but for this let's say they were 2.0) atty and wow...vapor and th from hell but the atty got super hot...so I decided to buy a 3.2 ohm atty and it is just a hair more powerful than a 3.7 with 2 ohm...not nearly as hot as fast and a respectable vape and th (in the noobs opinion).

MadVapes newsletter sent a chart in the newsletter this week (wow...great timing for me)...

Voltage Resistance Watts
3.7 1.7 8.1
3.7 2.0 6.8
3.7 3.2 4.3
3.7 5 2.7
5 1.7 14.7
5 2.0 12.5
5 3.2 7.8
5 5 5
7.4 1.7 32.2 (HOLY CRAP!)
7.4 2.0 27.4
7.4 3.2 17.1
7.4 5 11

So with my reg atty on the pt I was at like 12.5w. With the 3.2 I was (am) at 7.8w and the 2.0 on the battery (3.7v) 6.8w.
So with my gear it is a little bit stronger and should last me quite some time...(yea I know...lots of rambling but ya get my point I hope)...

My understanding is that the HR coils have more surface area and produce slightly more vapor than a LR coil at the same temperature. So if you like your vapor hot, go LR, if you like it a little cooler, go HR. Personally, I like cooler vapor but I just use the button to control the heat.

I did a screen capture of that table to make it a tad easier to read.
