Lets start with introductions being that i'm new. Hi! i'm Roy. I've been vaping for 3 days now and loving it so far. I've started out with a disposable 510 and just made the purchase of an up graded battery. I've been smoking analog cigs for 12 years and these past three days have been the first three days i've gone with out having an analog cig since. On to my question/point...... Since i've started vaping i've been coughing up lung junk, thick mucus. Is this common for vaping? i've looked around a bit and so far i've not seen or heard of any one having this issue when switching from analog to vapor. So i figured i'd ask the masses. I never had much of a lung junk problem with analogs and i'm hoping its just due to the fact that i'm starting out and that this mucus issues clears up in time. looking forward to hearing back.

I went through about a week to 10 days of that after 3 packs a day for a few decades. It's the lungs doing a self-cleaning - cilla are no longer paralyzed by the tar and can do their job.

Your lung junk is all 12 years of your smoking coming out. Your body is disposing of all the crap that you have accumulated over the years. It will eventually go away. It could also be an allergic reaction to PG. Try lowering your pg mix to about 50/50. Drink tons of water also.

Like coughing up a 'hairball' eh? :) Good advice on the water....

It's quite common.

It's partly due to the fact that your lungs are healing and trying to expel whatever junk is in them from when you smoked, partly because the cilia in your lungs are coming back to life (tiny hairs that are there to keep foreign particles out - smokers sedate them with their smoke, but they wake up when you quit), and partly because the PG in your e-liquid (the base) helps this "lung cleansing" process.

It'll go away soon. Just remember, with every gooey cough you are getting rid of the fruits of your years of smoking.

thats a relief. thanks all for the info. i keep seeing every one talk about mixing and changing my pg. how would i do that? i ordered a few sample bottles of some random flavors from madvapes.com and just keep refilling the carts (alot).

Next time you order more e-juice, get some that's made with part PG and part VG. Lot's of vendors allow you to choose the mix. Most vapers enjoy 80%PG and 20%VG (or 70/30).

I coughed up phlegm for a little while when I switched to vaping, but it went away. In fact, I don't cough at all anymore, which is a switch from the smoker's cough I had been developing after 27 years of analog usage. So, give it a few weeks & see how you feel. I'm betting it will subside & you too will feel the benefits if vaping vs smoking!

see thats what im nervous about due to i have a lung condition

If you have a lung condition you should talk to your doctor..... however, I can tell you that vaping is meant to be an alternative for current smokers. It's better than smoking, but not recommended for non-smokers -- I'm assuming you are a smoker?

had this when I was quitting cold turkey - put me off because some of the stuff I was coughing up was so gross. But I agree with the poster who said that it could show that vaping is as good/almost as good as quitting full stop. If the lungs are self cleaning, then something good is happening in there!

Your lungs are getting rid of junk it may be a few days it may be a couple of weeks depending on how/what you smoked...I still do it every once in awhile however I was the proverbial freight train to the extreme.... I carried a cigarette press w me everywhere I went...

Relax if you have been smoking more than a few cigs a day for awhile this is normal.(if your lungs didn't do this I would be a little concerned):vapor:
