Ok. As some of you already know, I've been debating between a 510 and an M-4xx. So I broke down and got an M-401 with an additional 402 batt.

First thing is its sooo much smaller than my kr-808D... almost not used to something SO close to an analog! I like it, but I have a couple issues:

1- not huge with vapor production. Not bad either, if this were my first ever PV, I wouldnt be disappointed.

2- The taste... not liken' it too much. I only use menthol and 555. The menthol is the only thing really worth using. But even then the issue is a metallic taste? I've dripped directly onto the atty as well as using the cart... neither is any better.

So any advice that would make this PV a better contendor for more regular use vs. my kr, please post:D

My best,
-VP

One thing I noticed is they take a bit to break in. My first day with mine I thought it was ok but not great. After a week I wouldn't trade it for anything and it's all I use now.
The more you use it , the better it will get. Give it a day or so and it may shock you, mine cranks out more vapor now than my 510 ever did.

Ditto on this advice. My Dragon wasn't the greatest at first. The more I used it the better it got. It puts out as much vapor as an 801 atty now.

This is so true.

i personally have the m403 (smoked marl shorts for about 15 years) and i have came to notice that i enjoy the VG the most and do prime my atty with about 2 drops every time i goto clean things and refill my carts. As i have noticed what you were saying about he metal taste and that means that you haven't got it wicking properly yet. Next step for me is a 402 manual batt to be my fulltime and leave the 403 as a backup battery other than that i wouldn't trade it for anything in the world other than enough attys and juice to last me a lifetime

We didn't like the 401 much at first but then... dipping did it for us! Clouds of vapor and a good TH. The atty wicks up exactly the right amount each time. It's a good thing not to have to worry about juice in the battery from dripping because we prefer auto bats. We have lots of contact lens cases now for different flavors. I stick little labels on them so I know what's what. Never ever vape it dry. The 401 is our favorite PV now. :thumb:

I mostly vape w/ cart and filler- Mine works great w/ Fluval and I can get about every drop of juice (the filler will keep a drop or two but not enough to complain about). So no probs...
I love the flavor & vape I get from the 401 but I can't compare it to anything. Well, the Sidesho is the only other PV type we have. I prefer the 401 to the Sidesho mainly because the draw is tighter on the 401. The draw on the Sidesho is so loose it feels like a very light cigarette. & the TH on a Sidesho is very light. The same liquid in the 401 is a better TH. Hope you enjoy the 401 as much as I do.

Well, since my last update, the m4 has been relegated to the shelf. Over the course of a few weeks, I seemed to be using a ton of juice to keep it going. Fill a cart... get a few puffs. Take the cart off, drip a few onto the atty... get a few puffs... repeat. I couldnt see taking this thing out to the bar or anything if I have to constantly drip or refill. Yes I've seen the cart mods. Its kind of my opinion that if I need to mod something to make it work right... I probably dont need it. I really dont want to get out small surgical tools, buy a bunch of different kinds of stuffing from a fabric store, and mess around trying to figure out which one works the best etc. To me, thats what developers and manufacturers are supposed to do.
I've heard about the possibilty of disposable cartomizers being available soon. If thats a reality, then the m4 may come out of retirement. Until then, it will sit as an extream back-up.

i never got metalic taste.
but if you have a 3.7v battery Or capable of destroying a battery Use the connector and make a mod for a 3.6v battery it will do much better in my opinion.
Personally I prefer the 401 over the 510.
And im playing now with 901.
rarely use my 510 atty.
but I don't use my stock batteries any longer. Im using a box mod I made. it lasts & tastes so much better for me.

Agrees about the lack of tobacco flavor on it. but the menthol or spearmint is great.
with 3.6 or 3.7 it brings out a stronger taste for me.

Just my opinions

Thanks Dave. But perhaps you missed my last post. Let me reiterate:

I probably should have been more clear in that post to include the modding of batteries and attys as well.:D

I agree with you 'Vapor Pete'. At one time I tried to make these tiny carts work but since getting my 808 I gave up on them. I use it when I go out, although I still like the 401 for dipping when at home.

I'm sure I'll buy some 401 cartos when/if they come out. I think they'll be a novelty purchase for me since the 808 holds 1ml of juice. I would guess that the 401 cartos will only hold .3ml at best but time will tell..
