Pilot/EVO/M-401 VS Dura/510?

This is making me have more trouble deciding between a 901 and a Dura for my next smoke.

I have a 901, which I almost love, like Cyborgasm. I Always find myself constantly refilling carts and placing a drop to run down the inner wall with a slow spin on the atomizer. I have an apc powerpack that is definitely needed, batteries are tricky. Two will last 2-3 hours, the third will go for 9+. The usb passthrough was the selling point for me. It does provide a nearly flawless fully charged hit everytime without using a standard battery. If anyone is interested in 901's katy at thesmoklessshop has a great Ultimate starter pack that is fully loaded. Today I did decide to look into a 501/Dura (to take advantage of this "war" of prices) hehe I've been severley torn between jantyusa. and altsmoke. but Janty is offering the 6 month warranty on batteries and 3 on atomizer.
i'd say to mix and match your favorite suppliers, because there are Alot of great suppliers out there, that are totally willing to help anyone anytime.

After using my Dura for a couple of weeks, I would say stick with the 901. I haven't had the battery problems some have had, and I do like how the Dura uses more liquid from the cart before needing a refill, but I think I'm having atomizer trouble already. Throat hit went from superb to nonexistent two days ago and no amount of cleaning or trying different liquids will bring it back. On the other hand, the USB passthrough 901 with a replacement atomizer every week or so gives consistent performance, even though I hate having to top off the cart every hour. At least with the 901 I know I have to replace the atomizers fairly often and they are cheap, and don't need to screw around with warranty replacements.

Thats definitely true Jammi, You guys should take the $$$ factor for necssities in mind, such as a battery for a Jany is around $18.95? and the atomizers are $23.50 compared to 901 Batteries which are $9.99-13.50 and atomizers which run along the line $6.00-10.00. Definitely look at this as a long term investment as compared to real cigarettes (gas money to the gas station, fluid for a lighter, the cost for more packs. Compared to $5.00/day your still making out and you will most likely be happy with whatever solution you go with, just dont go blindly hehe

Edit Terraphon: I believe the average life span is 3-4 weeks I could be mistaken tho

It is different for everybody, it depends in the use and in the manufacturer, it also depends on the batch, I have 3 901 atomizers, one of them has 2 months, still working great, in some point this old one comes to perfome really poorly but then I read a post in this forum saying to insert a nail in the baterry side of the atomizers to clear it up, and this atomizer come to life again, I did this same thing with a newer atomizers and its perfomence improved, I don't know way but this method improves the performance at least on the 901.

Terraphon, As others have said, it depends. I probably should have said every two weeks or so, since that is a bit closer to my average, though I have had some that decrease dramatically in performance after about a week. Bear in mind that I am a heavy user.

I used my first atomizer for almost a month and it still worked (and I thought nothing had changed), but when I tried a new atomizer the difference was surprising. The old atomizer had degraded in performance, but gradually, so I hadn't noticed it. I've been swapping out atomizers roughly every 10 days or so since then, and I'm pretty pleased with the results. Seeing as a 901 atomizer costs roughly the price of 2 packs of analogs, and it's keeping me off of a pack and a half a day habit, I think the price is worth it.

Maybe I'll get the 901 and a heap of atomizers. I was digging the Janty Dura but it sounds like the problems with them may be a bit too much to bear at this time.

The 401 is excellent. Imo the atomizer stays fresh on it for longer than my pen styles or 901's. I have an evo and the batteries on it are great, you almost never have to worry about batteries.

I smoke a pen-style with a battery pack at home and i smoke an evo with cartridges out and about. A single battery lasts me 8 hours (15 min charge!) and carts 3-4 cigarettes worth. It's totally worth the money. I haven't used a dura but i hear mixed things so i'm hesitant to purchase one.

Ok. My site will carry the 510.. but aside from that, i thought i was having problems with my original dura. Until we found the trick to the dura.. I think this should be posted everywhere for everyone.. No.. First things first the 510 does NOT have a cutoff. The reason you are getting 2.5 seconds is a Cartridge design flaw and Joyetech is working on the issue. But there IS a workaround!!! All you have to do is spin the darn thing between your lips while ya take a drag.. thats it.. Mine and all my friends who have duras now.. all ya have to do is spin it, not even all the way around.. just even rotate it back and forth.. .Hit is till ya cant stand it!!! But there will soon be a lot of sites carrying the 510 keep an eye out...

My Dura works fine, but I'm concerned if this should happen with my spares. What do you think the spinning does to eliminate the cutoff problem?

I just tried this with one of the batteries I have that has the 1-2 second cutoff problem and it did not help me. I'm not sure what spinning is suppose to do but it was at least worth a shot. It should be noted that in my case the battery WILL stay on beyond a couple seconds if I can manage to constantly INCREASE my draw. It will not stay on during a normal steady draw like the other good battery does.
Can you give any detail on the cart design flaw and how it affects the switch on the battery?

I would assume spinning spreads the liquid more evenly over the atomizer reducing "hot spots".

I've never had a cutoff issue with my Dura though...
