Hey all,

Got my M1A1 the other day and have a question. Whenever I fill the tank to the screw, my juice runs out of the bottom of the cartomizer until the tank is about 1/3 full. If I try to vape it full, I get nothing but mouthfulls of liquid. Once the tank is 1/3 full, she vapes like a dream and I have no problems.

The tank is situated with the screw at the top, two holes are punched in a boge 3.0ohm at the bottom just above the bottom ring of the tank, I am using a 70/30 pg/vg, and I have no leakage or air bubble from anywhere else. Yes, the screw is just touching the cartomizer but backing it off does not seem to make a difference and there are no visible cracks around the screw hole. The cartomizer was pre-filled before inserting into the tank.

Even after fishing about ECF, this still has me abit puzzled. I am guessing my holes are to big or there are too many of them but then it works fine 1/3 full. Any thoughts?

What Kempo sais is very likely. You may have also pierced your carto too deep and pierced the inner tube, but the airtight seal deal seems more likely.

If you want us to really check it out, take a good picture of the top tank oring, the bottom tank oring, and let us see how big your pierce into the carto is.

I've only been using carto tanks for 2 1/2 months now & still don't understand the entire dynamics of them, even though I get them to work, lol.

But, I had a similar problem with some of the 1st ones I tried. Interestingly enough, one of them had a small hole (made with hammer & nail) the other had a gaping hole (made with the saddle valve thingy that I totally destroyed). So, I'm still not sure how much the size or amount of holes have to do with anything. I'm still experimenting with that.

I used the solution in the following thread. http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/vapor4life/258971-help-my-tank-leaking-dont-panic.html Don't worry that it's a different tank/carto combo. I think the principle is the same. Anyhow, it worked for me with my M1A1 tank & regular carto, so maybe it will help you.

I've come to the conclusion, based on your report, that it is a matter of density of liquid versus air flow x pressure. Say for instance (in your case), the vape is perfect at 1/3rd full....hence less mass and less air pressure (due to more air than liquid in tank). To resolve this issue when filling the tank, you will need to blow through the carto with the cap off (and off the Buzz/Ipro) into a paper towel. Wipe the threading and hole, attach, vape without inhaling @ 5 + volts for 4 seconds. Remove the tank/carto/drip tip, blow heavily through the top of the carto again into a paper towel...you should see daylight. Again, attach to Buzz, hit it at 5+ volts to "clean it up", then dial it down to your proper vape......this should resolve the problem.

Thanks for all the great advice everyone.

I tried pretty much everything above and nothing. Assuming that, as Mike said, this is the titanic of cartos and doomed from the start, I gave it to a friend and punched a new one. Completely dissembled the tank to verify o-rings, and reassembled with a filled carto. No leaks or gurgles of any kind. Screw position again seems to be irrelevant but it is a new tank so I wonder if that might come with time. I don't get any burning taste but the top of the carto is bone dry white. Is this normal?

try punching just one hole in the carto. That is what I"m doing and I have no problems. maybe you are running to thin of a juice so punching one hole might do the trick.

Yes Red, it is very normal. The only time the top of the filler looks wet in mine is when I've top filled it at the start. The important thing is that from the holes down is wet to wick to the atomizer.

I'm glad your second attempt worked out for you....now you will see what all the tank fuss is about. I love my tanks!!!
