Thanks Fedor for your review (and many pages of updates)!

Yesterday I ordered my first e-cig, the M402 from absolutelyecigs, can't wait for it to show up!

Also ordered a bunch of juice (ryuan4#, strawberry, and chocolate) from heaven's gifts.. regardless of the warning on the side of the page :(

My only real worry at the moment about vaping is the lack of legal clarity, hope it doesn't turn into a banned habit.

Oh well! Better than smoking my analogs, ill be chewing a few month old nicorette whilst shipping :p

Ok

It seems that i can't stard my own thread about my m401 so ill be doing an ongoing review of it on this forum.

First things first. This is my first e cig and everything will be done from a newbie point of view.

I will be discussing every aspect of my order from why i made the decison, who i bought from, the hardware and the juice.

I decided to go for the m401 for a few reasons

portability. I was not interetsed in getting a big bulky e cig

widely available. I didnt want an e cig that i would struggle to find parts for

reviews were good.

looks ****ing great.

ooook.

I first started looking on absoluetly e cigs and thought i was going to buy from there. I then discovered ruyan direct and prefered their range of juices. I then saw eastmall and was extreemly impressed by their prices and range of juice but the m401 starter kit did not come with a usb charger.

So i ended up making my first order from ruyan direct and i plan to then buy juices from eastmall in the future.

My order was

1 m401 starter kit (black) with the second battery being an m402 instead of just having 2 m401's
1 spare atomiser
10 spare blank carts (black)
30 mls of RY4# juice

I could not be more complimentary about the service from Wayne at ruyan. My girlfriend ordered the e cig on her pay pal and i payed her in cash. Within about 30 mins of the order wayne sent me an email saying the pay pal adress was different to that of the ruyan account. I explained that it was my gf's pay pal and i would like the shipping to come to my adress. in another 20 mins he responded confirming my request!

Today i received a confirmation that my order has been shipped.

That is all i have so far. Stay tuned and i will tell you more about the shipping as the info gets to me, followed by an innital review of the product followed by a more in depth review followed by my second order.

I decided to do a complete review because as a newbie i was confused by all the options and i would have loved to follow one order from its inception to its end.

I hope somone finds this useful.

Calum

Glad to hear that:) I just received another order as well. I hope you enjoy your e-cig as you will have it in your hands shortly!

Any doubts i had about the package clearing customs is gone.

My order has cleared both chinese and australian customs.

Not a long wait now!

Hey Fedor, does this have any thing to do with the requests you sent to AEC? I would just like to know how big an impact we have upon the industry. If our voices were heard, then it kind of reaffirms the fact that we do have a direct voice in the industry, and are able to shape its outcome/products. If not, well its just as well, and a PT for the M series is great nonetheless. Now i just want one for the M201...manual batteries....a PCC...

Ok i got my first e cig last night! Innital Impressions:

Ruyan Direct rocks!

Nailed my order even with a special request to get a m402 bat as well as the m401 in the starter pack.

The thing looks brilliant. It feels nice to hold in my hand and mouth and is weighted better than i expected.

Vapor Production: As it is my first e cig i have nothing to compare it to but i am very happy with the amount of vapor. I understand these atomizers take a week or so to "break in" so it should only get better

Flavour: Innitally the flavour was really piss weak and i was worried about my purchase. In about 30 mins though the flavour was coming though nicely. I might have wanted a little more flavour but I am yet to see if it is the juice im using (RY4) or the ecig itself or e cigs in general.

Throat hit: ive never understood why throat hit means to much to people. Surely if the thraot hit is big then it will be irritating to the throat if you like to vape often. Thruthfully i dont think i really care about throat hit. But that being said i can deffinetly feel it when i do a lung inhale and can feel it a little with a mouth then lung inhale

Switch responsiveness. Every now and again the auto switch doesnt quite react as quickly as i would like but its only a minor problem and generally works fantastically.

Battery life: Not sure yet will have to get back to that one

Ease of draw: .......N i was not expecting it to be this hard. Nothing i have read/watched has said anything about the draw being so hard. Perhaps it is just fine and im too used to smoking Rolly ciggs. Its not that bad but it does take a quite a bit more work than i would like.

Whistle sound: There is an anoying whistle sound every time i take a drag. Which is gonna start getting to me like a chinese water torture any moment now.

As for the jucie: RY4 tastes fantastic. It is a little sweet and fruity but also a tad smokey as well. Its a great consistant vape.

All in all.

Pros:vapor production/size/looks

Cons: draw/whistle sound.

Can anyone help with some tips about either of these cons?

Ill give a follow up review in a week.

Thanks all

Calum

Draw and whistle is probably related to the kind of cart you are using. Unfortunately they have stopped using the style I thought worked best, but to be honest I never use carts with the 401 anymore. I pop out the insert and dip the exposed atomizer into a pool of liquid (I use a contact case). If you have questions about dipping go to the 401 subsection and look at the thread called "don't drip dip". IMO this is what this e-cig was made for. Cart blow in general anyway.

I'm having the same issue with the m401(2). I ordered mine from electronic-cigz and got replacement parts (atty, batts, empty carts) from ruyan as well. I've tried dipping (also contact lens case), swapping atty's, batts and juices. Both atomizers were broken in for at least on week, but alas the draw is still harder than I'd like; the whistle is there too.

I've demoted my m401 to backup and am using my DSE901 instead. It has far less resistance on the draw and I prefer topping off carts than dipping the atty.

Either way, if anyone has a solution to this issue it would be greatly appreciated! Until then its back to the 901 :|

Edit: I should add that I've done the straw mod to the DSE901 which may have contributed to the far superior performance. This of course of subjective.

For the "whistling", the sound is generated from the atomizer intake holes, different batteries may have different results. Another method of solving this problem would be to carefully file down some of the holes on the atomizer. Face the atomizer cart side down, and file from the sides of the intake holes. Do not file down into the atomizer, but rather make the holes larger width wise. File a small amount and test. Make sure that you do not take too much material, as this will cause too loose of a draw, and you could end up with the possibility that the battery will not activate.

Thank you very much, this would seem to solve both my issues. what kind/size of file are we talking because those holes are tiny

Eastmall also has the passthrough m401 for $15.. I do think we have a voice.. i wrote to a few Chinese distributors as well asking about selling actual m-series passthroughs and they said they would talk to SMOORE about it. (this was awhile back before I even broke down and got the trueman DSE ones)

I am also going nuts right now because i want to try manual batteries for the 401. I keep hoping the prodigy or Jantystick come out with an adaptor. (well, now leary of the JantyStick but if it improves) i am NOT a modder. I also want a PCC! In fact.. I just placed an order with Ruyan for a Joy510 with manual batteries to try out but I have not yet completed the paypal portion. I'm only considering it because the 401 is lacking in these areas but I am so in love with the atomizer of the 401 I don't know what to do. I feel almost like i would be *cheating* on the 401 if I get this 510... and that is just NUTS.. I feel so devoted to the m401.

I NEED a manual battery at certain times.... i WANT the exposed atty and (for me) reliability of the 401/2/3 atty. (still no atty deaths I feel blessed).

But what can i do? I see the 510 and am leary of a recessed atty as i only dip and worry about dripping but i *hate* carts. But I also see the convienance of so many versatile addons for the 510. Will the 510 atties have a good lifespan? Gaaah! So yes.. if the 401 wants to keep up with the market.. it NEEDS these addons.

I would try 0.25-0.5mm per side on either 2 or all holes, Its really just file, then check. I would also plug the center atomizer hole as you don't want metal shavings going into the atomizer.

Purr- What can i say... I have much love for the 401, but when i need the hit, I'm willing to use the 510 with a cart. Keep in mind that the cart does NOT wick like the 401...There's at least 1ml in my carts that will remain there, and the atomizer will not suck this up. Even with these problems I still like vaping the 510, just for the manual battery. I use a cart 1/4 of the time with the 401, but its usually the old style e-z draw cart.
As for buying a 510:
It really depends if you can sacrifice a recessed atomizer for the manual switch as well as the added cost of buying another unit. One of the pluses of the manual batts is the fact that they are sealed, so dripping SHOULDN'T harm them (i won't say WON'T because anything is possible...) I would also add a PCC into the cost. The 510 batts suck. This is the weakest link in the 510... 1-2 hrs is simply pathetic.
You'll also want to consider the amount of money spent on replacements, if you are going to keep the 510. Long run you'll want at least 2-3 spare atties,1-2 batts, carts, ect.

yeah.. I was bad and just finished the paypal transaction. I only got the starter kit to see if I will like it. If I don't, i will sell it. If i do... I'll look into investing in more. I love the 401 so it will stay my main baby for a long time... I did order some blank carts to go with the 510, but I might end up just dripping with it. Then again... can't really say till i try it.

I hope the JantyStick v2 is more reliable and made better and has an m-series adaptor eventually. If the 510 is OK.. The jantyStick will serve well.. *if* it improves. I'll just watch and see.

For now I will keep the 510 (when I get it) hidden from the 401... don't need jealously issues:evil:.. I actually do feel guilty... which is weird as I see how most forum members have tons of diff units.. SMOORE how I love thee:hubba: but I need a little more than you can provide at the moment (but yer my main squeeze baby! I'll only cheat on you when I have no choice.

I find the 510 to be a pretty messy dripper. It has the sealed battery but it floods easy and gets messy when it does. Although I think there may be a new '401' in the pipeline by the same folks who make the VX2 (J118) that has a PCC, an exposed atty, and if the J118 is an indication might provide manual batteries down the road.
