Both myself and my bf are 'new' vapers, our M401's arrived today. He was a regular smoker that cut down, and I have always been a social smoker (when drinking, and sometimes with stress) I chose this model because of the size. I didn't want something big and clunky and heavy in my hand. How does it compare to other e-cigs? It's an automatic battery which I like for the authentic feeling, but are manual batteries better?

We did notice that good vapor isn't produced until the atomizer warms up... is this because it's still so new? Also, since he had cut down a lot and I was never a heavy smoker to begin with, we got 7mg low e-juice (Our intention isn't so much to quit right now, as I know we both like the effects of the nicotine, but we wanted to do the least harm possible - and stay at a low dose if possible). Should that be ok, or should we have maybe gotten 11mg instead?

Small size=minimal battery power. Great for something that is seldom used.

Auto batteries usually means an auto cutoff and harder to pre-warm the atomizer. So good for short cool vapes. Longer learning curve and teaching yourself the primer puff.

Low nic so it will not kill any cravings for nicotine for most smokers. Some can get by with tiny amounts of nic, but that is not typical.

Reads like it might be great for a social smoker, but not someone who is actually addicted to tobacco.

Please enlighten me. What is so bad about nicotine? Besides the addiction? It makes the body react much like caffine. If coffee and Coke are considered bad, in your mind, then it makes sense.

I do wish you two good luck and hope it works for you. Your approach would have done absolutely nothing for me in regards to switching to vaping instead of smoking. Hopefully it works for you.

The 401 is a decent starter, but manual batts would be better. If you decide there not cutting it. Get ya a 510 with manual bats and some 18mg nic. And by the way,nic does have some positives. Addicting, but its not that bad.

I know it's not that bad :) I have some issues right now with concentration because of stress at work, and have been finding I have been sneaking around smoking more than I used to (which mostly involved alcohol). And I find it DOES help me concentrate and retain things more, while feeling just overall... good!

I just don't want to become overly dependent on it because the e-juice is already hard to find in Canada with nic, and could possibly become very difficult to find. And I definitely do not want to continue inhaling carbon and 4000+ dangerous chemicals!! Oh, I was smoking ultra lights too... but the BF might have issues with only 7mg. We may have to get 18mg for him!

After playing with this for a bit and watching a vid on youtube, slow drawn out drags after a few short puffs to kind of 'prime' the M401 seems to work quite well! Lots of vapor now!

The M401 is a great unit. I also recommend getting the Manual Batts. Besides those, i also recommend the Smart PCC, USB PT and liquid to refill your own carts. AEC also allows you to fully customise a M40x kit.

But my recent fave has to be the Maxx and the M60x models. I'll be doing a review on the Maxx soon so not too much on that. Besides, you probably will not be interested due to the size. The M60x is slightly larger in diameter than the M40x but delivers a good vape. The best part about this model is that it is interchangeable with regular atty/carts and also cartomisers. This was my first venture into cartomisers and it was a pleasant experience.

The nic level should not be too much of a concern if it is only at 18mg though. Its what i vape too but i sometimes turn to 36mg when i have a bad day. I sometimes hear people vaping more than 36mg but i never understood how anyone can take that kinda hit.

Hope this helps.
