Now I know there's a bunch on this but something different and ridiculous has arose.

I read that a good way to get rid of machine oil off of stainless steel atomizers was to soak it in some dawn dish soap.

I think it worked I can no longer taste machine oil. But all I can taste it the soap. I've had it in hot water for days at a time switching it out to keep it hot. No change.

I just bought a Lemo Drop atty, and I don't want to make the same mistake I made with my kayfun Lite plus, in using something and then having THAT leave a nasty taste.

I'm new here, too, so feel free to scrap this if it's been talked about, I apologize if that's the case.. It'd be nice to find ONE universal trick for this. I would've tried the dishwasher but I don't have one lol.

Using vodka for cleaning is alcohol abuse! A couple of recent additions to my atty collection were loaded with machine oil. So bad that the oil could be smelled when unboxed. I used boiling water to rinse the disassembled attys first and then efferdent and soaked overnight.

No alcohol was abused and the attys came out fresh and minty,,, just kidding but there was no oil smell or taste.

My last kayfun resisted all my attempts to clean it via traditional methods (soap and water!). So boiled it for about a half hour, and that got rid of whatever that funky taste was -- machine oil, I think. Boiling is a bit easier on the rubber/silicone o-rings that alcohol-soaking, too. I've had to replace several kayfun o-rings due to my soaking them in diluted alcohol to try and get rid of lingering tastes.

A couple of years ago I bought an ultrasonic cleaner to "rapid steep" juice. That never worked all that well. But I found another, more obvious use for that cleaner. Cleaning atomizers FAST.

I had a huge bottle of 70% iso alcohol that I decided to use in my cleaner with equal parts water and a few drops of Dawn and let it run for about 30 mins. Worked like a charm. Even the dreaded Tobeco Kayfun V4 (probably the most heavily oiled atties I've ever bought) came out absolutely clean in 30 mins in the ultrasonic cleaner followed by a quick rinse in hot water.

Anymore the very first thing I do with ALL atomizers is toss it into the ultrasonic cleaner with that alcohol/water mixture with a few drops of Dawn.
