what is the c rating?

 again
The c is a multiplier and stands for the word capacity.

In the equation 4c the 4 is telling you to multiply the capacity by 4 to get the safe discharge rating of the battery in amperes.

In cylindrical batteries, c rating is often overlooked for a hard number published on the spec sheet by the mfr.

Charge current limit on lithium batteries is commonly considered to be 1c for example. But again, always refer to mfr's recommendation. IE the spec sheet.

Can I ask a question? How is it supposed to be said? I honestly do not know.

I have only read it here on the forum. I'm not an engineer nor am I mechanically, in any way shape or form, inclined
Capacity
AmpHours
AmpereHours
MilliampHours
MilliampereHours
Joules (with the correct prefix to denote how many places before or after the decimal place applies per instance)

Or simply pronounce the letters m... a... h...
So I guess we shouldn't say "mod" or "mech" or "atty" or "RTA," etc. (oops, et cetera)
Incorrect

"Ma" is a massacred pronunciation of an industry term from an industry that our little hobby relies very heavily on. And it shows lack of knowledge and ignorance when used because it is incorrect. (And if you're with me when you use it, very embarassing.)

Whereas your examples all display knowledge of a new, innovative and vastly growing industry with all new terms and abbreviations of its own.

;)

The Proper Abbreviation seems to be mAh and you don't Pronounce abbreviations as a word of their own.

Maw(Mah) just sounds wrong from the get go............ Unless we are discussing Mah and Pah Kettle:lol:

Don't dumb down language, educate people.:)
I do agree with using mAH rather than pronouncing it 'mah', I'm going to have to respectfully disagree on pronouncing abbreviations as words of their own (NASA comes to mind).

Soooo saying "UmPF" to verbalize the abbreviation of miles-per-hour (MPH), is out of the question? :)

It shows no such thing, as if one's ability to pronounce a word were contingent upon his knowledge of what it means.

The basic truth here is that people don't control language: it's a living thing with a single purpose, to communicate. If that is achieved, questions of propriety are moot.

My husband is a micro-electrical engineer. He is constantly having to explain how my vaping stuff works even though is doesn't vape.

Anyways, when I first said it like "Ma" for Mah, he freaked out on me and said "no no, hun, it's MilliampHours, never say it like that, people will look at you silly." lmao

That is what I was going to say... "Milliamp Hours", and the people who are into electronics Or are engineers don't say Mah, they say Milliamp Hours. The guy who created the Original Genesis Atomizer in one of his youtube vids talks about Mah mean MilliAmp Hours and its not called Mah.

Would you be well under 40?
In the age group that started adopting original words and terms to mean something totally different simply to (fit in) and confuse the older generation? Well surprise, we also did it. as we grew up we put those things aside.

Do people ever Stop to think/wonder why communicating is becoming Harder, not Easier?

I'm embarrassed to continue this far into this discourse.

I'm out with the understanding we'll continue to agree to disagree on this point.

Though I will state that if my middle school shop teacher heard me speak this garbage, I'd have spent the period looking into the class from the hall way.

I'm far from a grammar nazi. This is just... adolescent and ignorant... At best...

My opinion. But it's not changing.
