Thanks for the great info breaktru and mamu.......must say it is kinda unusual to have nay-sayers in a modders thread.....as with most new electronics it is great to do the beta testing before marketing (the Chinese might take note) and from my experience Evolv strives to have the best product and service....beta tests are great for working out the kinks....can't wait for the final version....Made in USA.....

I will have to agree with retird that the judgment seems a little hasty. I'm just excited that it comes with a screen, being careful doesn't seem like a huge sacrifice. My definition of DYI must vary largely from some, because if I didn't have to customize something then it would be a kit and everyone would have the same thing

After dealing with Evolv for service I'm sold on anything they make. My kick quit working and I thought the center post just came loose, soi tore it apart, Un-soldered the top pcb/re-soldered the center post/re-soldered the top pcb and still no worky. So I shot Evolv an email telling them what I did, fully expecting a sorry you should have just sent it back now your SOL or not even get a reply. But no, a few hours later i got an email back from Brandon saying just send it in and they will ship a replacement. I got the new kick in about a week.

Where it says "up/pot", im assuming you can wire up an analog potentiometer. Have you guys tried that or at least know what value of pot to use?

So all of us high watts vaperers will have a nice cushion before maxing out the capability and will also be able to use a range of resistance to do that.

The OLED V2 Zmax clone goes well beyond 20W and is actually closer to 30W.

Yes, that's my only hang up right now with getting it into a Lexi case. The one end of the display with the cable attached is creating a bit of a bugaboo for me as there is no ridge that I can insert into a cutout.

Breaktru and another builder are both working on a similar project for me using acrylic. The other builder found some thin sheets that can be heated and reformed easily, so I would think that maybe the same could be used for the dna OLED? (Acrylic sandwich or multi-layered)

OR, if you could find a make-shift mold....you could just reform a small piece of an acrylic sheet to create the cradle. Might be a little difficult to slot it though. Maybe a level cutting board with a secured Dremel mount? Slot it on both sides before reforming?

They may have engineered the board, but it's highly unlikely they had them made here.

Texas Instruments has many of their boards made in Malaysia....(for example).

I haven't seen a spec sheet...it may be that the through-holes are for an auxilliary push button switch... not a pot...but I'm just guessing....on the other side of the board there are 2 holes marked "down"...

Yes, I read it....but until I see actual proof of their claims, I will continue to doubt it.

I'm looking at the price point that Evolv is looking at selling for, from a wholesale POV.

$30/ea en mass is reminiscent of "Not Made in America".

Obviously I could be wrong, but chances are that I'm not.

Example

Adding a wrapper and a label does constitute "assembled and packaged"...but I doubt that the assembled board and it's components was made here.

Buttons and Pot connections are through-hole. So either side would do.

Did you look at the photos of the board? Look again at Post #12. Click the attached photos for a larger view.
