Ok guys. for those that had not read my first post here on ECF , I basically stated I like the 6mg Menthol I got with my new V2 Kit, but was still having the craves for a real cig.
99% of the responses I got on my first post was to up the Mg to 18-24mg!
ok , after taking basically the Same advice from alot of people , I went from a 6mg prefilled cart to an 18mg cart.
Just got them in today mind you & tried other flavors I thought I would like too. ( all V2 brand prefilled cartos ).

Well , first up was Coffee 18mg. 1st drag I about coughed up a lung ! it even burned inside. and even though the initial smell and taste wasnt bad , the after taste was like an ash tray.

Now , thinking that going from 6mg to 18mg might be a bit much , I also got some 12mg ( Thank God ).
So , I opened up 1 of the COLA 12mg. Not bad. A little strong on the TH , bad not a bad taste at all.

Next , 12mg Chocolate. Not bad , probably wont vape these .. So I have 4 12 mg Cartos and 5 of the 18 mg Cartos available...

Next , 12 mg. Vanillia. = WAY TO SWEET ...

Next , 12mg Peppermint. Not bad at all , but menthol 6mg is my favorite.

So , what is the advice of the boards this time ? Am I screwed ? Is vaping not for me ? I have basically 30-35 NEW Cartos I will probably never vape. and to think I could of had a Carton and a couple of packs of regular smokes for what I just paid for these ( ).
I am so disappointed , I really want to just go out and by my smokes and not be disappointed.

I dont care about throat hit. the 6 mg is light/heavy enough. Menthol is good taste , but still had the cravings.
Maybe half smokes and half vapes is for me ? Sure hoping for some good news and good advice.
thanks,
Scott

definitely what he said....i still smoke a cigarette or 2 a day...sometimes more.... vaping helps to offset how many cigarettes i buy and smoke....nothing wrong with smoking a few cigarettes...
You may be exactly right. Vape a bit smoke a bit. Not everyone is able to just lay down the cigarettes. We know that. Allow yourself to make the change gradually if that's what it takes. Relax, it's not a race but it is for a better life.

It could be your vaping style. You should vape differently than you smoked. When smoking, you probably took fairly short, quick hits. That's why smokers who try a friend's PV, cough and choke, and don't find it a satisfying experience.

Vaping is usually done with slow gentle pulls, held in the mouth, and exhaled, either thru the mouth, or nose.

I would suggest varying your vaping style until you find one that works for you, and one that will allow you to enjoy vaping.

Also, I didn't remember hearing the PG/VG percentage you were using. High PG has more throat hit, and also some flavors produce more throat hit than others.

There is not need to stop smoking altogether at first .

Vape the strength and flavour that is pleasing for you ( I too would recommend a bit higher than 6mg) . If you feel the need to smoke an analogue then by all means do so . Just try to vape in preference to smoking.

I remember when I started vaping

On the first day I smoked 5 cigs
Second 7
Third 3
Fourth 2
On the fifth day I was amazed at myself because I did not have a cig at all.

After 2 weeks I tried a normal cig and quickly put it out. I just could not stand it.

Vaping grows on you , also the flavours . At first they are not that good when compared to analogues but as time goes on and your body adjusts they are great.

Finally I would suggest you drop the pre-filled cartos as soon as possible. There is a whole world of different wonderfull flavours out there.

As far as the nicotine strength goes . Yes at first for me 18mg was overwhelming . I thought it was far too harsh but again the body adapts. Technique is key also , when you smoke you take a quick inhale and draw it deep into the lungs , when you vape you draw more slowly , hold it in the mouth and only partially inhale.

Believe me after a few weeks you will see visible benefits;

Your body can breath ! You will be able to jog , go up a flight of stairs without gasping for breath.
Your sense of smell will come back.
Your sense of taste will recover and food will taste great (unfortunatelly)

Persevere !

can we sell / trade cartos and supplies here on ECF ? is there a board for that ?
Hate to think I just spent over $60 for nothing. The main reason I tried ECigs was to cut costs. Plain and simple.
a Pack a day = a good $155 a month. I am sure I would be More inclined to keep trying if there was a way to trade / sell instead of throwing them out.

Try vaping the 6mg cartos for a few weeks and see if the throat hit goes down even if you do need to smoke some cigarettes. If it does you may want to try some the 12mg cartos again. It isn't unusual for beginning vapors to find that the throat hit is overwhelming but it usually goes down. This isn't like any other method of quitting you can go back and forth between the two. Any amount you cut down is still better than nothing.

If you were willing to refill there would be more choices to cut down on the throat hit and a lot more flavors.

Hello jays1fan, yeah finding flavors you like can big a huge pain in the ..., but I found the experimenting worth it. Your problems may be the pre-filled cartos as some have already suggested, the few I have tried were terrible when compared to juice from the vendors I have used so far. So I too would highly recommend getting some blank cartos and sample packs from a few vendors to see what hits your tastebuds the right way.

This:
Vaping is usually done with slow gentle pulls, held in the mouth, and exhaled, either thru the mouth, or nose.

I would suggest varying your vaping style until you find one that works for you, and one that will allow you to enjoy vaping.

Is so true, and I could see how it could be a big issue for those who do not have a bricks&mortar store nearby to help them out. You simply cannot hit a PV the same way you hit a cigarette.

Lastly this:
Vape a bit smoke a bit. Not everyone is able to just lay down the cigarettes. We know that. Allow yourself to make the change gradually if that's what it takes. Relax, it's not a race but it is for a better life.

Seems like sound advice to me.

I wish this is the advice I got the first post before I spent all that money on these Cartos. lol

Just saw a calssified section here... how many posts do I need to post there. I tried , but it would not let me.

The craving for cigs varies from person to person. I stopped smoking cigs within 3 days of starting to vape. I was committed to quitting so I vaped through the cravings for 3 weeks and boom 10 months later I haven't had 1 cig in 7 months and no cravings.

+1 on getting blank cartomizers and getting juice samples from different vendors. Some juices are harsher than others. I recommend Alien Visions, Bluemist Vaping, Want2Vape.

Good luck!

Throat hit can be a little overwhelming at first.
I remember trying my first 18mg carto (v2 red flavour) and I was like WTF????? There's no way I'm gonna be able to handle that!

But eventually, 18mg cartos were all I had left, and I just vaped 'em. Sure the throat got dry, and I had to drink plenty of water, but then it all calmed down as I got used to it, and the higher nic cartos really kept me from reaching for the ciggies.

Just like smoking, it's something you have to learn to enjoy...There's not too many people out there that loved everything about their first cigarette, we had to work at it.

I too am not a fan of v2 flavours mostly (though I still like sahara) so when you've vaped through them as much as you can handle, go for some juice with a little more VG in it, it deff helps the TH.

If you still had cravings on 6mg then I'd put it to you that 6mg isn't strong enough.

Do you get headspins on 12mg or 18mg?

edited to add...

You could always spend just a few bucks on some juice samplers and use them in the cartos that you really can't stand.

for TH alone , 6mg compared to 12mg and 18mg , I like better. I smoked Menthol LIGHTS , so there was not a big throat hit. I like the Taste of my Menthol Cigs. I could not smoke a reg. cig without a PACK of GUM. Always said , I wish they never would have made menthols or banned them..lol
So I need more MG to Kill the Cravings but , the higher you go up in MG the harder it is to intake. So I am thinking maybe this is not for me. I at least wish I would have gotten some of the 12mg Menthol in that pack. But I can say I would not enjoy faping these new ones and wont go through the $60 trial and error again. These were to last me a month , then I was going to try juices to refill them. I went with the Prefilled because they were cheaper in this package then buying blanks.
Just trying to save the family some money by doing this ecig thing , but if its going to be hit and miss , I cant afford to do that.
I could have lived with the V2 Menthol , but now I am just heart broken over this and feel like a failure!

Don't give up. 6 mg is very low, not likely to satisfy a new user. If you like the menthol flavor you have, try it in a 12 or 18 mg version. And try something with a higher or 100% VG base. A lot of people, myself included, are very sensitive to PG but enjoy VG-based liquids. PG makes me cough and burns my throat. VG at 18mg is smooth and satisfying. Dearme & hulsey are right about vaping style, too. Don't inhale directly.

We all go through a stage of trying juices that just don't work for us, but there is so much out there that you can find something that works. Buy samplers of what you you might like. Check out the reviews on the forum to see what others have to say about juices and vendors to get pointed in the right direction.

Have a cigarette, relax, and experiment. Don't buy a carton. Once you find the equipment and juice that works for you, the rest of that carton will just be wasted.

Hand on to the cartos you already have. They will mellow with time and your tastes will change. And I think we all have a shoebox of Zombie Apocalypse emergency juice in our closets. If you really feel the need to recoup your costs on what you already have:

There is a classified and swaps forum here: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/classifieds-swaps/

There is also a Pay-it-Forward forum here: Pay It Forward - PIF
