The Cheap Way......Well, not so cheap if you only want to do just one stem....Save the time and grief and spend the 20 are so dollars
If you want to make more one, this might help you.......
What I was using there is called a "Fancy" stem...FYI: I get my stems from www.pipemakers.org Prices for Lucite runs about 4 to 6 dollas.....This is not the only place to find stems.......
Now for a way to use a stem with a saddle......
What I have shown here are some, but not all the different drip tips you could with type of stem....The two on the bottom left, you can use on a "Fancy' stem, if you want a o-ring adapter.....State side www.kidneypuncher.com has a few of these.....Are there is fast tech.......Edit....The middle top drip tip does not have to be cut...
For the saddle type, you have to drill out the correct hole, glue it in (fish tank epoxy ?)...use a small drill to clean the glue out the air hole....
If you have got this far....Putting a bend it the stem......Three ways ...almost boiling water "ALMOST"...a heat gun...Your wife's 200hp hair dryer...(If she will let you, or use when she is not there
).....
So far you need a stem, drill, bits, glue...A way to bend the stem, if you want to......One last thing....polishing up.. (not completely necessary, but a nice touch).......The best way....The three part Beal system : Tripoli :White Diamond; Carnauba Wax....The compound is fairly cheap, but wheels are pricey...Go to Harbor freight get the cheap ones ( not as good, but will do)...Tie your drill down on a table, and buff away.....
If you haven't run away by now......I hope this helps.....
