I have not had a real cigarette in 5 weeks and I am really enjoying vaping. I feel it is time for a change.

Currently:

All smokeless Image 808 thread.

Spinners (2)
Carts
one X2
two T3's
12mg juice

I am getting a fairly enjoyable and satisfying vape out of the T3's and the little cartos. My issue of course is the limited selection of delivery devices available in this thread. Had I taken more time in my initial purchase I certainly would have gone with a 510 threaded device. I have done a TON of research into delivery systems, VV/VW devices, mech mods, so on and so on. I am a tech savy guy I will also add. I race 1/8 RC cars as a sponsored driver so tinkering with small complicated devices and high end LiPo batteries is something I do often and am not scared of.
That being said I am feeling that the mech mod direction may be the way to go though I am still unsure. Though I feel completely confident in my ability to make it work properly and even given a hand at it rebuild a RBA I also want something I don't need to spend a lot of time maintaining on a day in and day out basis.
I also own a small construction company and spend most days on a job site so the durability of the mech mods is appealing for that reason.

A couple questions:

Protected or unprotected batteries?
Is it obvious when a battery runs low?
Is a kick necessary?
For someone who is going through around 3 ml a day (not counting after dinner) will a 18350 get me through?
Do the recent rebuildable BCC's (for instance the drunkard) work well on mech mods?

Thanks in advance

Trent

1) Protected or safe chemistry such as AW IMR batteries.
2)Yes and no. If you are using a regulated mod then the battery will stay at the same voltage until the battery is too low to maintain. If you are using an unregulated mod then you'll notice flavor and vapor drop off when the batteries are getting low.
3) No
4) An 18350 battery will get you about 4 to 5 hrs of vape time depending on how much you vape. An 18650 will get you through a work day if you don't chain vape.
5) Can't help you there.

Mechanical mods are great for rugged use but you are limited to one voltage. If you can afford a Provari you would have rugged, reliability, safety features and VV which for me is a must.

tmcase has given you sound advice

i would like to add:

if you get a mech mod you can make it a variable output device...the kick varies wattage instead of voltage...the only down side to this is that they don't play well with dual coil cartomizers...if you use those you probably dont want a kick but a variable voltage device

all of this being said, once you add a kick you no longer have a real mech mod....

I suggest puresmoker's legacy ...its solid...looks great and will work long after you and i are both dead

To add to the_vape_nerd :)....I have a kicked Legacy and love it. It seems like the Legacy was made for the kick. You just unscrew the top cap and there sits the kick. With other kicked mods you have to unscrew the battery cap, take the batteries out, take the kick out, adjust the kick and reassemble. I avoided the kick for that reason until I got the Legacy. It is very solid and fits my need for variable voltage or wattage in this case. You can't go wrong with this mod or the Provari.
