Making ego kit work with VG Juices/I am PG intolerant

I am pretty new to vaping and currently have 2 Aerotanks mini with the 650 mah vv batteries and the Emow Mega which uses the Aerotank Mow Mega and a 1600 mAH VV battery. I cannot vape ANY PG as I soon discovered during my first two weeks.

Before these two I used the Evod 2 starter kit.

The Aerotank mini puts out a lovely taste but I have problems filling the VG liquid straight from the dropper bottle, passted the tight metal rings at the top. I have a 14 g needle in the mail to overcome this issue as I like the taste and I like the fact that if coils go wrong, not a lot of juice is wasted. I also prefer the look of smaller tanks/batteries but have not been using the tank long enough to see how well it really does with the VG liquid.

The Mow Mega tank worked really well with the coil that came installed for 3.5 days which I guess is good going for VG liquid but last night I ran into problems when I changed the coil to the 1.8 ohm, two large slots (as opposed to the four holes). After two hours of vaping, the second coil broke. Since it was already broken (and ruined the second large tank of liquid) , I tried taking it apart so in future I could remove one strand of the silica BUT even though I removed the pin at the back, I was not able to remove the metal pin which would have given me access to the silica!

Just to add: After changing the coil I did let everything settle for 10 minutes, held the tank in my hand for the liquid to warm up and gave it a few primer puffs.

Getting concerned about ruining more juice I tried adding 2 drops of distilled water to the juice and did not like the taste. I also tried 2 drops of Vodka and did not like the taste so I am wondering how those of you who vape VG only (yes I know most have water added) make their ego kits work best?

My favorite juice is Velvet Cloud's Caramel Swirl (Amaretto colored) and I have ordered their unflavored liquid and NF flavors to play with over the next few weeks. Any input would be much appreciated as vaping is amazing when it works but sooo frustrating when it does not.

I've vaped VG based DIY eliquids for 5 years with eGos and have some of the same clearos you have - Aero, geni and emow but for the most part have used T3S's for eGos and those others for other batteries - Vapor Shark rDNA, Microstick and iStick.

My base VG is called Aqueous Glycerin (AG) made by Decadent Vapours which is 83:17 VG:H2O (either deionized or distilled water). My nic base Angelic Decadence has the same AG base with the same ratio with the nic added. And then adding flavors. I've never had a 'coil' problem with this set up. There are premixed flavors available with the same bases.

Other vendors do not dilute their VG or don't dilute it enough with H2O to where it does present problems - one of the reasons I went DIY Liberty Flights in the US sell the DV diluents and nic base. They also have DV flavorings but you could get flavorings anywhere. If you stay with premixes, then you'll have to seek out a vendor that dilutes their VG or you will continue to have problems. I have one vendor that doesn't, where I like the flavoring, so what I do is dilute their premix with my AG and either buy the premix with a higher nic level so the dilution doesn't dilute the nic or just add some DV nic base as well. It does dilute the flavor some but diluting flavoring is a 'current trend' and works for me.

Darker flavors tend to have either particulates or just larger molecules which can gunk up a coil more than lighter/transparent flavors. I can extend my use of coils by soaking them in 151 proof cheap vodka (Galen's) which I've found the best method of cleaning short of dry burn which I do not do. It extends the use of coils for months. After three cleanings I usually throw them out.

Ive only used egos and t3s evod's and have Vivi novas as well. Normally i order from ITCvapes and have never added anything to the juice. In kanger tanks I'll remove a strand or two of silica wick but that's it. I chain vape as well so maybe I've been lucky but I've had very few burnt hits even with the Vivi novas.

I didn't mean to suggest that the aero, geni, mow, emow work better on larger batts. And while I do have some mini aerotank for eGos, I still mainly use the Kanger T3S tanks on those. But I use the larger diameter Aerotanks, Emows on the bigger batt mods. For strong flavors I use the 1.8 ohm coils (single coils on the T3S clearos and dual coils on the others)... and 2.2 ohm coils for lighter flavors.

However, there are two types of eGo batts - those that run straight 3.7V 'underload' (ie. maintaining that level of voltage while under the load of a coil/clearomizer) and a 'regulated' eGo that runs at 3.4V constant or a variable voltage eGo. I use Joyetech eGo-c upgrade batts that are regulated - so they are more like a 'regulated big batt mod' in that sense, whereas an unregulated eGo is more like a 'mech mod' without any regulated circuits. Hope that isn't 'too much information' but if so, you'll understand that later Sorry if you already know

As for the big batt mods running through more ejuice - you're right, but also when you can vape at higher temps than the eGo, the coils tend to stay cleaner with more heat - it is why a 'dry burn' will clean a coil but also a 'wet burn' will tend to keep it cleaner at higher temps than is generated by regulated eGos The downside of high heat vaping is that you can burn particles off the coils which then can end up in your lungs - and the solution for that is Evolv's rDNA-40 temperature control board - which is what I have in my Vapor Shark rDNA-40 mod - for that you need pure nickel coils but you can regulate the temp so no particles are being burnt yet still maintain higher wattage. Oh nooo........ you have no idea about the damage you did by educating me to such a level! I have done nothing but compare mods using Evolv's rDNA-40 board
Having found out that I can actually buy nickel replacement coils, I am hooked!

It does seem difficult to find threads which compare ALL of the devices. If you have any links at hand, I would be most grateful.

I went for the Vapor Shark rDNA-40, but on size, style and familiarity with the vendor more than some others, and then their cyber Monday sale

I'd prefer a "DNA-40" - their DNA is a smaller box mod but the other downside of that, imo, is that the battery isn't replaceable, whereas the rDNA-40 is.

That's funny. I may live in California but I am actually from Germany, have been married to a Brit for 23 years and also spend 8 years "over there"
Usually I am all for practicality but when I see the colors of the Hana modz, I could forget that the VS might be more practical

Yes the colors of some of the skins are pretty but to me it still seems like spending a lot of moneny on an i-phone phone only to cover it in a cheap silicone skin spend the money on a 200$ mod plus 20$ for the skin, leaving only 30$ to what I would really like to look at which over the space of 12 months is ......not a lot.
