Hey all. I've decided to switch over to e-cigs because, try as I might, I just can't kick the habit. I've been an off and on smoker for years now and I always want to quit but just can't shake the habit. I used snus for the last year but it's not a very attractive habit to have and it's expensive to purchase from Sweden all the time. So I've finally bit the bullet and decided to go the vape route.

My first kit is a volt starter pack. I bought 1 cart pack of 555 and one cart pack of ry4. I'm also getting the smooth sampler pack.

Now my questions. I was going to buy a x2 battery and clearomizer from smokeless image. But I decided just to stick with the smaller volt pack to keep things simple for now now. I am mostly smoking from home so I will maybe keep the standard volt kit for when I go out and buy a larger battery/clearomizer later on.

I wanted to know if maybe I can get a better deal on a battery/clearomizer elsewhere? I've read about variable voltage batteries but don't know where to begin for that.

I also read on the volt website I can't use blank carts and my own e-liquid with automatic batteries? I think this will be a problem if that is the case because I am trying to save as much money as possible.

You can refill cartos...just don't do it while it's on the auto battery and let them sit for a few minutes to make sure they aren't overfilled and leaking. I started with and still use volts. 78mm for out and about, X2 at home. I now use all manuals, but my first one was an auto and I refilled my own cartos right from the start. And they are sealed, so you shouldn't have to be overly careful.

Grab a vision spinner or ego twist and some kanger T3 clearos you wont regret it. I am pretty new to vaping and every other clearo i used well sucked compared to the T3. I honestly feel this is great for a new vaper to avoid alot of frustration and wasted money

I have to agree with fanatic205 on this. Your next step should be something like a Twist or Spinner. For the price they are a great entry into variable voltage and super easy to use. Also the Kanger T2 and T3 are great for their rebuildable qualities and price. They produce great warm vapor. Even though I have moved up to VV and VW devices, the Twist is still in my daily rotation.

I also agree. If you are going to take the next step, a spinner or eGo twist is a nice way to get variable voltage and stay small and budget friendly.

The T3 is well recommended and easy to use. You'll have plenty of juice options at that point.

The T3 also has replacement heads so you can swap the heads for a fraction of the price. GotVapes has the best selection of T3s and price right now. I just bought 4 from them.

For the best quality and price combo for juice, I recommend Mt. Baker Vapor.

Typed on my mobile. Please excuse typos.

I am still pretty new to this myself but i started with a Smokeless Image X2 1300mAH manual and some CE3's. While they worked well at first they started leaking all over my battery so i wouldn't use them on an auto. I have been using there new x2 - t3's from SI since christmas and i got to say i am really loving them. They only work on the x2's for now but a version for the 808 small battery's is in the works.

If i had to do it over again i would probibly go with an ego twist or spinner tho. There are a lot more choices of cartos/cleros there with the 510 threading. Plus a couple of my juices seem like they could use a little bit higher voltage.

i personally use an 18650 joyetec mod Joye ego-t 18650 Mod Battery with a 2600mah battery that will run you around 10 bucks and a mini vivi nova tank Vision MINI Vivi Nova Clearomizer Tank System 10 bucks. and the little piece to make it took flush is 2 bucks so for around like 40 bucks you have a pretty beast set up, you cal always use stardust instead of the vivi nova thats all preference.

Just an idea if you wanted to get into the mod area without breaking the bank. :)

im still a noob so take my advice with a grain of salt, maybe one of the more experienced guys can back me up if what im saying is good advice =P

I bought some blank carts and some juice from heathers heavenly vapes to go with my Volt.

Realistically, how much will that compare to getting an Ego spinner and t3 clearomizer? Is the difference really that huge? What is the experience like on the ego? Just more convenience because of the bigger reserve and longer battery life?

Way easier to fill great vapor and flavor easily replacable coils. With the spinner or twist you can dial in the flavor and vapor that suits you. If you go with the spinner/twist and T3 you will save yourself time money and frustration. I almost quit vaping from leaky dry hitting stardust clearos and cartomizers tasted horrible

Hi MacSabbath,
You can use blank cartos and juice with automatic batteries. Just don't fill them while screwed on to the battery in case you have a spill. I have Volts and X2s - the X2s are a good battery, and the price is fine.
If you want variable voltage you can get a variable voltage pv with 808 threads that will be compatible with all your Volt 808 gear too.
The Revolver iGo:
Revolver iGo Batteries

$25. Review here:

Personally I don't think a Zmax or Vamo is what you're looking for right now - those are APVs or mods, and will end up expensive with extras you'd need, compared to picking up an iGO which is the size you want anyway.

You can buy a T3 from Smokeless Image - with 808 threading. People here don't seem to know the 808 options available. You can get a variable voltage 808 pv - the Revolver iGo, and 808 T3s as well. This will be the same as a Spinner and T3, but compatible with your cartomizers etc. The difference? Longer battery life with an iGo, and you can adjust the temperature of your vape if you want.
There isn't a need to buy stuff with different threading to the Volts.
