I started vaping when I got a coupon in the mail for a free njoy (or whatever it's called). After trying it I bought a kanger el-cheapo which was made of plastic. Soon after I bought a mini protank3 and I love it and will still use it when I'm driving and at work.
About 4 weeks or so ago, I started making my own juice. The problem is that taking the tank apart to clean it is wearing out the threads. I would need to take it apart often to test my new recipes. I've noticed that some of the kanger coils are slightly crooked which makes parts of my mini pro cross-thread leading them to wearing out. I'm actually on my second mini pro3 because of this problem.
Sorry for the long post. My question is, can some of the vets here give me a couple choices on what type of drip system to buy? I'm mechanically inclined so running coil wire around a wick is no problem. I've tried educating myself on this topic but there's so much info that I don't even know where to begin. Especially when I read forums and the experienced vapers are speaking in vape slang, I don't understand what they're talking about.
So here's what I want: a device that takes drops at a time, doesn't use premade coils, and is inexpensive. I've tried asking a friend of mine and he starts speaking in tongues (so it sounds to me) and points me in the direction of something that costs over $200. I don't want to spend that much until I know what I'm doing.
Any advice would be appreciated.

Myvaporstore sells the Kangertech Evod replacement tank made with glass and metal to replace the plastic one, $8. They also sell the replacement atty's at $1.50 apiece. I've been screwing and unscrewing mine hundreds of times with no thread loss issues. I've also just started doing the RDA and RTA builds and using that knowledge to rebuild the Kanger atty's also. Work better than the originals.

I guess for starters check out places like fasttech where you can get gear for cheap. Good way to find what you like.

Cool site, thanks. So a rebuildable atomizer is what I want? That seems like what I'm looking for but I'm still not sure. I have e-go batteries, would something like that work with them? It would be great to be able to avoid buying new batteries and a charger.

So I can rebuild those? The single coil style comes apart and I often wondered about that. I would just need wire and wick? I think I do remember reading that somewhere too. I guess that's why kanger would start making those enclosed wick coils that don't come apart as easily.

Fasttech's rda's start at around 5 bucks so you could get several different types to experiment with
Once you are comfortable with a certain type you could upgrade to the original version for 10x the price, but imo clones are a better overall value

Ok great. Now I feel like I'm getting somewhere. Rebuildable drip atomizer. Yes!
So basically it's just a matter of picking a brand to try? There's so many to choose from. But I'm glad to see that they are in fact inexpensive.
Thanks for the quick replies everybody.

Those Kanger that look like they won't come apart?..Wanna bet..:D.. Even the I-Clear B and X.1 I atty put in an Evod tank base. Clamp in table vice. Use bent nose needle nose pliers and pop them right off, no problem. Do a 7 wrap 28 gauge coil at 1.2 ohms, cotton wick single rebuild to replace the double. Leave the atty in the Evod base, turn on side to use vice to press it back together. Install back in B or X.1 and vape. :D

That leads me to another question. Why have I read that the kanger 0.8 ohm coils won't work with a ego battery? I bought two the other day (not on purpose, that's what the guy gave me). Despite the warnings, I tried them anyway. I almost just tossed them and bought different ones. They work perfectly. I was very impressed at the difference between 0.8 and the 1.5 I usually get. In fact, when I get my rda today, I'm going to ask if they carry those and pick a couple up. The battery drains more quickly but it's worth it for the flavor and vapor I get. It doesn't even get hot, contradictory to what I've read. The vape store near me has everything but they are a little short/rude so I can't ask their advice.
What makes those 0.8 coils dangerous? I was reticent to try them at first but I'm glad I did.

First comes education, and then comes rebuilding & RDAs.

Since you mentioned ego batteries, you need to think about the amperage rating of those little batteries, and the amperage required to fire those 0.8 ohm coils. I'm even guessing that your batteries are knock offs (clones), and not JoyeTech eGo batteries. At best those 0.8 ohm coils will blow the mosfet ckt in your ego switch, at worse a battery will explode when being charged after using them.

So point blank, rebuildable atomizers are not a good idea on an ego battery!

My suggestion is to just get one of these to use while you do a lot of reading.
