Hello everyone! I've been reading these boards for a couple of weeks and have learned so much from you all. The first day or two, I thought I'd go into information overload but thanks to MistressNomad and some of the other videos, I caught on. Unfortunately I am one that found the forum after I ordered my starter kit. I bought the V2 which I'm pretty sure is a KR808d-1.

So it arrived today and is very cool!! batteries only took a little while to charge and I've tried two of the cartos that came with it. So far so good....I think. I prepared myself for the difference in taste from analogs and the differences in the nic levels and have several cartomizers to switch around. I'm not sure I prepared myself psychologically for giving up the analogs although in my heart, I really want to quit forever this time after many decades of on again, off again smoking.

I haven't stepped out to the front porch where my analogs lie-in-wait for about 5 hours now but I think I'd like to. How did you all make the switch? Did you quit the analogs completely when you started vaping or did you taper off? I can't decide what would be best for me but I think maybe a combo for a while. I'm also a little apprehensive about vaping at work and will likely do it outside in the regular smoking area. Besides, if I don't show up in the smoking area, I'll never know what's going on in the office! (j/k)

OK....done overthinking for tonight. Maybe I just need sleep and it will all be clearer in the morning. However, I'd really appreciate any advice you have about what worked for you.

For me, somehow it came very easy. I haven't had a cig in 8 days now. I smoked my last analog on my way out to the mailbox to get my starter kit:) I wasn't hellbent on quitting but I took a liking to the vape. Now, already, I cannot stand the smell of tobacco cigs. I threw my half full pack out about 4 days after I got my kit. My mind was made up.
I've read many stories that have gone both ways. Whatever works for you is what you will essentially do. If you feel like you need to smoke one or two or eighteen a day than that's what you have to do. Maybe tell yourself you will just finish the pack? You might realize in a day or two that you prefer the taste of vaping. Not to mention the smell, health, and all the other obvious reasons.
Good luck to you! Let us know how you make out:)

Yes, prefilled carts. I have juices on order to refill them with a lot better sounding stuff and just saw an Spiced Apple Cider that caught my eye. I was expecting more flavor although these aren't terrible. Pretty sure the cartomizers are going to be the best for me for the sake of convenience. If it gets too complicated, I won't be able to handle it so I feel good about using them but I agree with you....need more flavor.

Welcome Cruzer

Glad you made the switch, but if you feel like you need to go out to the front porch and light one up, go ahead. I didn't completely quit cigs when I first got my kit either. I was just a creature of habit, and had a hard time letting go of that cig right before bed. By the eighth day that bedtime cig tasted so bad, I had three drags and tossed it. Been vape only ever since. Just try to let the transition happen naturally for you. It's a little different for everyone. A big help for me was also finding the right nic level(24mg) for me. No real formula for that one. Just try a few different strengths to see which one works best for your needs.

Karl - thanks. Now I don't feel like a complete loser. Read so many where people said they just put them down and never looked back.

The nic level thing is confusing. My poison of choice was/is Malboro Ultra Lights 100's 1 PAD and I probably only smoke 3/4 of one at a time. Nic level in them is .5 so that's about 10 mg a day. Am I thinking right? I don't want to OD on nicotine or increase my addiction so I'm on pretty low levels but have different levels coming. If a cartridge is 24 mg and it lasts all day, does that mean you got a total of 24 mg for that day?

Welcome Cruzer. We all have different stories and you will find your own groove. Some stop, some whean, some still do both. Look at it this way, you have gone 5 hours. That is probably 5 hours longer than you have gone before without going nuts. Do what feels right and don't beat yourself up and worry to much. Keep us posted

Breath in - breath out. You are on the right track to get analogs out of your life.
Don't worry so much.
the best part is - you will not smell bad - you will save money - there are too many other things to list here.
There is a thread here for the best about no more analogs.
Take it a day at a time.

And Welcome to the wonderful world of ecigs

Yeah I know, I felt the same way at first after seeing all the "day one" success stories and thought maybe I was doing something wrong.

As for comparing the nic level in a cartridge to a cigarette, it really is different for each person. I've seen people on here who've smoked the same amount of cigarettes over the same amount of years yet both needed different nic levels in their juice to make them feel comfortable.

I would suggest to stick with what you have for now, and in a week or two if feel you're needing cigarettes to get by, order your next set of cartridges or juice at the next mg up (say from 8mg to 10 or 12) until you find your sweet spot.

How did you all make the switch? Did you quit the analogs completely when you started vaping or did you taper off?

I had less than 1/2 a pack when I got my first vape equipment, it lasted almost a week at 1-2 a day. I just vaped or smoked if I felt like it. When they were gone I was just to lazy to go get more, and no nic fit to force me to. For about 2 days I had some slight withdrawal from the other non nicotine crap in analogs but it was easy to ignore, after that no problems at all. Overall I would just say do whatever feels the best for you, even cutting down is better than nothing.
