Before I begin, let me explain that this is a test in progress, and that I have not fully put this into absolute practice as of yet. This may assist new vapers in their switch from analogs to PV's.
The beginning:
So you've decided to try out a PV, or personal vaporizer, in order to eliminate analogs. You either purchased a premade kit from a mall kiosk, or ordered one from one of the many companies online, and now you're sitting in front of your computer with a cigarette dangling out of your mouth, staring at this infernal contraption that doesn't seem to replace the feeling of having a smoke. That's quite okay, don't give up.
When you began smoking cigarettes, you didn't just pick up a pack of smokes and begin a pack-a-day habit, you had to build your habit, the same way someone who chews their fingernails or picks their nose does. You start with one or two, maybe outside on a break with some coworkers, or before school, as in my case. Eventually, you work your way into having one after lunch, and maybe with your drink at the bar. Eventually, you're hooked, both as a physical addiction and a psychological habit.
Getting to the Point:
You would really like to get away from those foul-smelling lung busters, but your PV just doesn't seem to do it for you, and you're about to give up hope. You need to sit back and remember exactly how your addiction started in the first place, and understand more about it in order to make the transition. Remember, these steps are intended to be taken one at a time but in progression to top each other, until all aspects of your psychological habits have been altered to include PV instead of analogs. Furthermore, these steps are not numbered, so you may take them in whatever order you choose, and you may include more steps that you might find in your own personal experiences.
Smoking Inside;
If you normally smoke inside your home, which is bad for a number of reasons (including air quality, density of nicotine in the air, and nicotine and tar on your walls, carpet, and everything else), instead, use your PV inside, and if you feel you need an analog, go outside. Your habit will change over time.
The car;
Like most people I've seen, they will get into their car, light up, drive for 3 minutes and by the time they have arrived at their destination, they're still puffing on their smoke. Instead of lighting up instantly when you begin to drive, just start puffing on your PV.
Smoking at work;
If you are able to smoke at any time while at work, try leaving your cigarettes at home, and just carry your PV. You will be able to have a smoke when you get home, and you'll still have your morning cig with your coffee.
After your meal;
Ahhh, the flavor of a cigarette just after a nice, filling dinner. Well, how about a nice daiquiri-flavored e-juice, or maybe a minty-chocolate vape? Replace your after-meal smoke with a satisfying flavored vapor from your PV, and you will begin to change your habit after meals.
Because you're bored;
Just sitting there, watching TV and a commercial comes on...nobody likes commercials so it seems like a fine time to light up. Get up, go outside with your PV, and puff on it for a while until you feel like it's been enough time, or, if it's winter, you start getting cold. Commercials will eventually work into a habit of wanting to vape.
With your Morning Coffee;
Note: This is probably the hardest one, which is why I put it last. Coffee and cigarettes have gone together for so long, your body automatically associates coffee with smoke. In my opinion, this one should be taken with care, and a really really good flavored, complimentary vapor. Like before with smoking inside, use your PV with your coffee while you're reading the paper or doing your normal routine first thing in the morning. The aspect of having your coffee will eventually work into an unconscious need for your PV.
Finally,
Since you didn't really have to work to become a smoker, you also shouldn't have to work to become a vaper. I'm advising that you DO NOT change any of your usual routines, because that may interfere with your mood. Just like waking up late and having to skip your coffee in the morning so you're not late to work - you have a bad day. Keep with your usual routine, but change simple things one at a time. You will eventually feel the need for your favorite flavor vapor instead of a nasty analog.
Hope this helps people, and Good Luck!
