I can't get a good build to save my life. Actually...I'd say I've had a couple but I've been building for a couple months now. The Fogger 4.1, Squape, Squape Reloaded, Orchid, Erlkonigin...I've butchered 'em all. I'd say I've had a successful build once on the Orchid and a couple times on the Erl but other than that, I've just been wasting kanthal, juice and cellucotton/kogendo. I've watched more YouTube video that I care to admit.

So I ordered a kayfun Lite Plus as the build seems about as idiot-proof as I've seen. Hopefully I can get that done, have some confidence and stop quitting every time a tank floods on my or I burn some cotton (course I pick it up after I cool down a bit). Someone...tell me it gets better? I'm close to throwing all this stuff down a hill.

First suspect for me would be your wicking. Can't stress enough that less is more.

Yeah that's my problem...my usual problem after a build is flooding. This is especially true whenever I use kogendo. I'm not sure if I'm leaving the cotton too lose when I'm rolling it to get into the coil, or if I'm not using enough cotton. I usually gently tap it down just to get a good shape but I don't press or roll it. Should I be rolling or pressing it tighter before I insert it into the coil?

Hmmm. I think you're trying too much at the same time. Pick one atty, no more than one, and learn how to build it. When you don't instantly succeed, don't move on to the next atty. Instead, adjust your build and observe the differences. Lather, rinse, repeat. When you're absolutely frustrated and just want a vape, use a clearo while you rebuild your atty again for the N'th time.

This way you'll learn what makes a difference in your build, without the "noise" from building on a handful of different attys which all behave differently. You need a stable reference point, and jumping from atty to atty won't give you that.

If your coils are heating up properly, it's your wicking. Wicking is much more difficult than building a coil. Takes practice. Your local shop can build you coils too on your attys while you practice on one

The Squapes are the easiest of what you have. Let's start with those.

I've never had the original, just the reloaded. I like the W deck. I use a 7/64" (2.8mm) inside diameter coil. I build the coil with the leads on top. After its trapped I lift it slightly. I mean 1-1.5mm. Thread your cotton so there's just a tiny bit of resistance. Its going to swell when wet. If it slides too easily, it will flood. Trim right up at the edge of the deck on both sides. No tails in the sides. I use the second largest airhole.

For the original squape, you will need to find which drill bit, or whatever you wrap on, has the same diameter as the wick channel. Use that to make your coil. I think wicking is the same.

Master these two first.

YEAH!!! I got the Squape and SquapeR built and vaping very good. I'm not sure I'd rate either above my Nautilus or Genitank but I guess since I'm not burning or flooding, it progress. Now the Kayfun...got that sucker built and I understand now what all the hype is about. It is finicky with the wick but I did get it and it's vaping amazing. Thanks again everyone.

Okay everyone...I've had some success. Thanks so much to everyone here, especially Roxynoodle for tome pointers, and I'd like to say thanks as well to a YouTuber:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8OSPnBDGQJc

This video helped me not only get my Kayfun built and vaping amazingly, but it also helped me with my Fogger 4.1 which I had previously built successfully once in about a dozen or so tries. This simple method of fluffing the cotton seems to work great. I was able to get my Kayfun, Fogger and Squape built and vaping great by just keeping this in mind. Hopefully this will help someone else as well.

If you haven't tried It before....Rayon wick solves most of the wicking problems In the fogger.

Glad I was helpful. If the flavor isn't quite where you want it on the Squapes, on your next rewick, try lifting your coil just a tad more. I first thought it had subpar flavor, too. Then I had to lift it on my first clone due to shorting on the deck. And I was floored with the flavor I got. Didn't expect that at all. So I do it on all of them.

I took you Orchid pics on Christmas for when you're ready. And have Erlk pics for you as well.
