I am almost finished with the first batch of mods since I moved. I should have them up for sale tomorrow. They turned out very nice. I had to use a different finish than what I normally use. I mixed up some shellac for the finish and I dont like it as much as the lacquer I normally use. I couldn't find my go-to brand of lacquer anywhere in Denver, so the shellac had to suffice. The shellac finish looks good, nothing wrong with it all, but in my opinion the lacquer is a better finish for this kind of project. Because of this I am going to sell these next mods at a $25 discount. Shellac is not an inferior finish, It will hold up just as well, looks beautiful and I doubt anyone can tell the difference, but since it doesn't meet my personal standards, I feel the discount is appropriate.

So keep your eye on this thread tomorrow if you'd like to get one. I only have two mods this time around. More to come very soon. :)

Have you made any with stabilized dyed wood by any chance?

Not yet. I will soon though. I built a pressure tank a while back and have been stabilizing scrap wood trying to perfect my process. I still have a few kinks to work out. And I havent tried to die the wood in the stabilizer yet. My main problem so far is once I put wood through the stabilizing process it tends to get slightly mis-shaped so I after it fully cures I send it through the drum sander, but my drum sander has been acting up, so I need to get that fixed. I'll let you know when the first line of stabilized MCM's come out. :)
