Mannitol as sweetener?

Hi all, just wondering if anyone has tried Mannitol as a sweetener, is a kind of edulcorant used in inhalers, its FDA approved and studies indicate it improves lung function, etc. Just search google and there is a lot of info about it, it sounds like this is THE sweetener meant to be on eliquid, anyone as tried it?
