Food Poisoning

Three pathogens, Salmonella, Listeria, and Toxoplasma, are responsible for 1,500 deaths each year, more than 75% of those caused by known pathogens, while unknown agents account for the remaining 62 million illnesses, 265,000 hospitalizations, and 3,200 deaths. Overall, foodborne diseases appear to cause more illnesses but fewer deaths than previously estimated.

Food-Related Illness and Death in the United States

My question: If more deaths were caused by unidentified agents than the known ones, exactly what precautions does the FDA believe will avoid these deaths?

The American Council on Science and Health (which strongly opposes FDA's attempt to ban e-cigarettes) has consistently criticized the FDA for delaying the approval of new drugs, for failing to approve various drugs, and for removing some drugs from the market (that many consumers have found to be helpful if not life saving).

We sure are a "drug oriented" society...

Not to start off in another direction, but I suspect drugs and combination of drugs
in everything we apparently eat and drink, plays a role in illness or symptoms that seem
to fuel the fire for more drugs to mask (not cure) those symptoms.

Regardless of even minor temporary discomforts that might just be the result
of lack of sleep or poor diet...the first thought is of a drug.

Got a headache? No, problem...There are a ton of drugs to choose from
and the common question seems to be "What drug works best for you?"

So true. And, when we take a drug, and there is a side effect, the side effect is often treated with another drug. And so on. AND SO ON. And that is one reason so many people end up taking so many drugs.

More and more… we are being told that we need to
educate ourselves and stop depending on the FDA
and Big Pharma to tell us the truth.

Doctors rely on Pharma Sales Reps for information
regarding the drugs they prescribe.

This whole thing reminds me of "Rip Van Winkle"

America asked for and insisted on having a Nanny State
then most went to sleep.

After falling asleep... Some started to scream "Wake Up America"
those that heard the annoying noise opened 1 eye and labeled
them conspiracy theorists... and went back to sleep.

Finally, after many years in "dream land" Americans are finally
starting to wake up to find out that while they were sleeping...
Our elected official gave us the Nanny State we asked for.

Many now are wiping the sleep from their eyes and yelling
"we don't want a Nanny State"

I'm sure all of this is very confusing to those who granted our wish.

In many cases we woke up too late. Next year, we will still be
vaping... However, the FDA will be in charge of regulating (insuring)
Monsanto's monopoly on the world's drug and food supply.
