In the land of no hills and red dirt
Okay, I think I sent the contact form in; my intention is to be in on the next batch. Looks like a pretty solid mod...no plastic involved to melt or deform, and in dripping mode it looks pretty simple and straightforward. Unlike some coop thread mods, no end user final fabrication other than a straightforward assembly. Also have sent in a request to be added to the c9v forum. I trust there will be no popping issues with this batch, correct?

Any good mods to the dripping version, such as using an oxidized SS wick, blue foam, etc.?

Thanks.

Yep, you've been added to the notification list, Clyde.

Believe it or not, we've actually had a lot of flack from various quarters about the fact that a little bit of fiddling is required with a device of this nature to get it working exactly how the individual user likes best. When we referred to it being really easy to use because of the pre-wound wick, I think people took that to mean that all the work is done for you, and obviously that's never going to be the case with a rebuildable atomiser and there are people who prefer the "traditional method" of coil preparation to the pre-wound stuff and that's fine, everyone has their own preferences, and it's nice to have choice.

Whilst most people have found it very easy to use, specially when compared to a lot of the other units out there, we did have complaints that the user manual was not terribly comprehensive and that we weren't including any wick for those people that want to mesh wrapped wick in the spike for the tank setup. We originally didn't include glass fibre wick, because the general consensus with these things seemed to be that advanced users preferred SS mesh only.

So we were catering for the advanced market, but caught flack from those who had other expectations.

Anyway, we took those criticisms on board, and updated the user guide and we now also include some wick and mesh for those that want it.

I think you'll like it, but then I'm biased. :)

No issues like that.
A few from the first batch went out with mis-matched parts where the holes were not lined up where they should have been. One user reported that this caused some weird behaviour.
I think the mix-up was due to the original return when Mark re-worked the threading on all of the units of the very first batch and a few units had parts accidentally swapped out with each other. Anyway, this was a few kits from the very first batch only and I can't see it happening again.

Unfortunate, isolated incidents that never should have happened but are kind of inevitable from time to time with brand new products launched to a very tight time scale.
If you imagine the screws at 12 and 6 o'clock, the airhole on either upper portion should be at 3 or 9 o'clock. The holes are drilled after each individual unit has been threaded and screwed together so that the placement is spot on. So each upper part only matches with its own base part. The ones that people had issue with were ones that must have been accidentally switched when they were at the shop being re-worked before the very first release.
This is also the reason why it's tricky to think about offering a larger tank part to take the B carts that people have asked for, because they'd have to drill their own holes if we were to do that option.
