The bottom feeding mods are really starting to take off, to the point where you have to fight tooth and nail to buy some of the nicer ones on the market. You also see self juicing versions of the puck people have made that seem to be viable. My question is, does anyone know of a mass produced juice mod? The wetbox can be found but alas it only uses cartomizers I was thinking more on the lines of an ali'i or reo style feed system on something a bit less artistic (and with a smaller line). I mean I love the looks of these hand crafted models but you literally have to stalk the website between certain times and have your order prefilled to get your order in before they shut down orders again.

Obviously you are not going to get an ali'i attention to detail in a mass produced product, with its multiple choices of wood and hand crafted look. However surely something can be made that takes the same function and puts it into a cheaper product?

Why do none of the largest companies make these? Does anyone know of a mass produced version with the same feeding features of a reo or ali'i? Something that works with an atty and drip tip?

AFAIK, mods are mostly an American invention. At least here on ECF, most are made in the good ol USA by hobbyists turned small business owners. Since China makes all the regular PV's and doing quite well, I don't see why they would want to change their MO...yet.
And with the FDA court decision looming for maybe a year, why would anyone try to ramp up their current operation now if they're just going to be declared medical devices req. FDA approval? Which btw, ain't gonna be given to anyone except the BP industry. Come to think of it, Joye and the other Chinese companies face the same issue.

I have been looking into bottom feed mods as of late. Im still pretty new to the game but they sure do look amazing (the Ali'i specifially looks like a work of art! both functional and beautiful!). I'm sure that down the road more people will make these types of mods as demand for them gets bigger. This industry is still in its infancy and as long as its allowed to grow (eyeballs FDA) more and better products will become available. Until then, keep an eye on the classifieds forum, I have seen a journyman (old model of the ali'i) and a phidius in the last week or so go up for sale there.

..... to the point where you have to fight tooth and nail to buy some of the nicer ones on the market. ..... but you literally have to stalk the website between certain times and have your order prefilled to get your order in before they shut down orders again.

Look, RNRManufacturing opens up their site to sales of the Ali'i on Friday's at 5pm on the west coast, and 8pm on the east coast. Some weeks, such as the past friday, he doesn't sell the Ali'i, as he's either backed up or taking a little time off.

If you really want one, how hard is it to go to the site 10 minutes BEFORE the appointed time, chooose your setup, and then, at precisely 5pm hit the reset button, then hit the Purchase button and order?

The shortest time he's kept orders open is 5 minutes, but hey? If you can't put in an order in five minutes, there's a real problem! You have to choose 2 wood types, choose metal for drip cup and choose vv or standard, then enter your info! You DO know when orders will open up... not like you have to check all week, every five minutes!

It's not THAT big a deal... take five minutes out of your week, and just order it! (They really are worth the $$$.... totally hassle free vaping ALL DAY... 6ml juice bottle and 18650 battery! What more could you ask?)

No thanks, I didn't stand in line for an iphone, I didn't stalk the stores for a wii and I can wait till these become easier to get as well. That being said they do look like a great unit so kudos to those who make them and those that have them.

I don't think that mods are primarily an american thing- some of the most amazing stuff I have seen is from europe and a guy in Greece created my preferred device.
But there is no doubt some great stuff coming from the U.S.

But "mods" started off a hobbyist pursuit and some of the most successful ones turned into businesses. Most of them are still handmade because the market is still really pretty small. By a very informal thread "poll" i did a couple of weeks ago only a third of responders were juice-feeders. (The others split about evenly between carto/carts and dripping.)
So if you call that about right- and I think it is probably too high- even then only about a third of the "ecig" market is involved.
I don't have any real guess on how large the PV market IS but I would think that the cigarette market dwarfs it by a huge amount.

My point: If the "ecig" market (which is still what it is, NOT personal vaporizer as much as we might like) is a relatively small one, the juice feeder market is a fairly small portion of that.
It is hard to make a good business case for mass production of a product that has a small market.
Especially if it is one that is likely to continue to have legal battles in the future.

I do think that eventually there will be inexpensive, usable juice-fed pvs available, but as new as I am to PVs in general, I think it will be a while.
