When we first got our 510's we didn't know about the primer, the next day after vaping on our new toys all evening, I had a massive headache.

We didn't know about the primer, I was given the cigs and the primer thing never came up by the vendor. He assembled them and I thought we were good to go.

I did some asking in the newbie section, figured it was dehydration or withdrawal from analogs because two three days latter I was really feeling sluggish in the brain. It got much better and I figured yeah, the chemicals from my cigs or lack of getting the chemicals did that to me.

Three weeks latter: Got some new attys. Thanks to all the great info here I knew to blow out the primer. I did some direct dripping and vaped with little inhaling till I got rid of the primer taste. This morning, same freaking awful headache. Even feeling alittle stupid in the brain again.

I did some reading and will try the vodka soaks on the rest of the new attys.

Figured I'd share this info because ''primer poisoning'' never came up.

The primer is just PG, it isn't toxic, but then again it might not be USP, as it is technically just for protecting the atty electronics in storage. For a new atty, I roll up a paper towel and try to get as much out of the atty with it (very gently), and then attach it to a batt and puff on it until there is no more vapor...but don't inhale. Then drip a few drops of your ejuice onto the atty bridge, attach a full cart, and vape.

That said, many do have PG issues. I certainly did. Gave me a headache and raw throat and other unsavory gastric issues. I switched to VG juices, and the problems went away.

This does sound like a PG thing for both of you, but it could also be either nic level is too high...but that would likely make you feel woozy while vaping...or it is an analog/nic withdrawal thing, which often happens in the beginning for new users not getting enough nic.

Its a bit of a rocky road, and not straight forward, quitting or drastically reducing analogs in the beginning, and getting things right for you with vaping. Instructions from vendors tend to be rather limited. The primer, as long as you don't have PG issues, should not hurt you, just taste a bit off.

You could wash it off with a little vodka, but make it a fast wash. No need for more than a minute or so in the soak, as PG is totally soluble in vodka. Alcohol over time will dissolve the adhesives inside. Then shake the atty out of excess liquid, and stand up with cart side up overnight. You can also soak up excess vodka from inside with a rolled paper towel (gently) and then attach it to a batt and press the button for 5 sec bursts until you get an orange glow from the coil. Its ready for driipping then and a fresh cart.

Just want to emphasive Kurt's note that too much nic can cause a massive headache, not necessarily immediately either. I almost took someone to the emergency room once, we thought he was having a brain aneurysm or maybe a stroke. Turned out to be his medium-strength nicotine patch.

I think you guys may be onto something here.

I never, never, NEVER get headaches. Honestly, I can't think of a single headache in the past 10 years... that is, until yesterday.

...And it's even worse today. Excruciatingly worse. No sign of it going away after two ibuprofen either.

smoking vaping JC Original, which does contain PG as the main ingredient. I'm going to switch over to the non-PG to see if it helps.

@Tekmatic : Take more ibuprofen, more water and more sleep, it'll go away eventually ;-)

I just wanted to add more, I didn't have more headache the next days, but I didn't vape as often. Even though, I'm pretty sure it was the primer and I'll probably boil my atomizer for my next order. It won't take long now since I already have clean atomizers, better be safe than sorry they say.

Can't be nicotine withdrawal since I'm still smoking analogs, I don't think it was nicotine overdose since I'm smoking less analogs and the strength is high at 18 mg which doesn't sound like too much. Plus the fact that I only woke up 1 time with an headache after vaping with a new atomizer. It's really got to be primer.

For your next question, I smoke an analog every 30 minutes and with the vaping I smoke an analog every hour, right now I'm back to 30 minutes since I'm out of juice, I'm waiting for my shipment.

Alright, I'm confused, again headache this morning and there's no primer, I had one last cartridge of high 18 mg, vaped it all yesterday, even got juice on my lips one time, I did drank a lot too but it wasn't because of alcohol, of course it didn't help, but at 5 am couldn't sleep, heart was racing, just like if I had too much coffee, it wasn't painful, I think I've just found that 18mg is too high for me. But nonetheless, I'll just boil or run hot tap water in my new atomizer next time just to be safe! :)

It sounds like a nic OD to me mate - seriously - try lower nic and more water.
I've had the bad headache and it was totally too much nic - 12mg is my sweet spot now - when I had my PV at first and was also smoking I had to watch myself. Too much meant bathroom breaks were..interesting  If I had a bunch of cigs AND the PV, even 12mg was too much. Also found more liquid (a LOT more) helped a bit.
I thought 18 - 24mg was gonna be fine but it was too high :)
