Can you use a flat-top 18650 an a Maxi RoughStack V2? I have a couple of IMR18650's that I accidentally bought a while back. I've been using them with a small magnet/spacer on the positive side and it seems to be working fine but I'm worried that it could short out. Is the center contact in the Maxi RS's cap raised enough that I can eliminate the magnet? Thanks..........

This is the $14 question and I've asked it a couple of times without a reply.
I have two rough stacks. One has a raised battery contact point and is fine with flat tops. The other has a flat battery contact point and flat tops short. I've asked about the replacement switches, but I've come to the conclusion that just doing it myself is probably the answer. About a minutes work with a soldering iron will make the flat one into a raised one.
And the magnetic spacers are fine as long as you're careful it doesn't shift when you screw the lid on.

Are you suggesting putting a bead of solder on the battery or the center post in the cap? Either way, it's a great idea....Thanks!
The center of the pcb that's mounted in the end cap. - The center needs to be raised just a little bit and a blob of solder will do it. You'll probably need to warm up the solder that's in the middle already to get some new solder to stick to it.
The 5.0v batts that have been discussed are probably flat tops, so madvapes will likely have to address this pretty soon. I'd wager that future RS switch pcb's will all be raised in the middle after they start selling the 5.0v batt and have a bunch of people who can't run them in their RS.

The solder blob tends to vary a bit with whoever build roughstacks that week. We only add the solder to protect the thin layer of tin on the pcb. Raising it up a bit by adding more solder will certainly help with the flat tops and once that is done they should work with no troubles..

So what is the fundamental difference between the roughstack v2 and the maxi? I assume the maxi is physically larger so you can use two batts at a time? I'm pretty sure to buy one or the other. My lifestyle now has determined that I cannot remain tethered to my USB passthru. I need a walkaround model during my workday. I'd like to vape at above 3.7 volts. I really don't care about vapor production as much as I do the "lung filling throat hitting marlboro effect" if that makes sense. Any insight on all of this would be appreciated.
The difference is the length. the regular rough stack takes a single 18350 3.7v battery. The Maxi can handle an 18650, or two 16340s, or one 17650 4X1/3 NIMH 5.0v battery. So, it can do 3.7v, 5.0v, 6.0v, or 7.4v.
Try out the dual coil cartomizers. Judging by the description of the vapor you want, you won't be disappointed. They hit really well at 3.7v, but are incredible at 5.0v.
True enough. Some juices will tend to scorch at 6.0, but they don't burn filler.
Mellette, SD. I know that area pretty well and I might even be not too far from there this summer. My dad's family farm is South East of you a little bit around Ramona and Howard. It's been in the family about 110 years now.

You're going to love your Maxi Rough Stack. They're nice. - And madvapes ships really fast. I usually get a tracking number the next day and have whatever I ordered in Montana two days after that. -- To Texas, I bet you have a day less of a wait than I do.
There really isn't much difference between the two except for the body portion that holds the battery(s). That's also the beauty of the RoughStack line. They have interchangeable parts so you can turn a regular RS into a Maxi and vice versa. Either way, you can't go wrong but yes...the Maxi is more versatile.
Just got the maxi and it is very nice. You can use just about any battery. I had an imr 18490 and if you pull the spring and throw in a stack of pennies in and put it back in it will fit whatever battery you have lying around. The maxi at 6 volts with a dual coil is absolutely the best vape I've had yet.
No joke there. I ordered last night and got a tracking number today. I paid the extra three bux for priority mail. Hopefully that will bump it to Saturday instead of Monday.
You're gonna love it! I'm ready to order a short body just to have the complete set. It's nice to be able to go into stealth mode with an 18350 or the 16340 when you need to.
Got my MaxiRSV2 in the mail today. And, the batts were mostly charged. It only took about ten minutes for the light to go from red to green.
I am an 808D kind of guy so I screwed on the adapter and then put ten drops in a cart that has been going strong for almost a solid week. Took a hit.
Cool. Marlboro hit, good vapor. Every bit as good as my passthru. So I have a wireless option.
I'm gonna assume that juice consumption goes up along with voltage since that is how it seemed with the transition from Smoketips 3.7 to the passthru at 5v. In any event the 10 drops didn't seem to last very long.
And, it came with two 510 attys and 5 empty cartridges + 10 mils of something called USA MIX. That will go into my emergency reserve stash since I am notorious for waiting till the last minute to order supplies. Then I pray to the gods of fast shipping. Sure wish Lubbock had an eCig store. All we get are NJOY kits at the smoke shops and a mall kiosk selling, uh, something. No place to buy juice or Carts or Mods.
As an added party bonus, I sent the dead smoketips back and the lifetime warranty should show me two new batts in the mail real soon. That will leave me a "discrete" option for those times I don't want to explain the whole ecig thing and branch into "why we mod".

It's been a couple of Mondays now. The 6v RS is rocking right along. Definitely my favorite vape. Even at home with a PT available I turn to it.
Don't use Smoke Tip Cartos though. I suspect they are really low ohms and the 6v gets that overheated taste immediately. They work great in a 5v PT and refill with a lot of juice. Gonna dissect one once it dies to see what's different.
Back to the RS. I like the feel of it. Just the right length and the button is in a good spot. I can't carry it in my jeans since I do a lot of bending and physical work. But it fits in a shirt pocket just fine. And, the hit is enough that one or two quick drags will keep the heebie jeebies away.
Good Job Madvapes. Next purchase will be a test to see how well the dual coil or clearomiser works.
