It's tough to say how you can improve without knowing what you currently are using.

I am having good luck with these setups:
Igo-L with flat kanthal at .8 ohms, cotton ball wick, 1.6mm air hole
Igo-w, dual standard microcoils at 1.2 ohms, cotton ball wicks, 1.2mm air holes
Rsst with ss cable and 500 mesh, 28 gauge kanthal at .9 ohms, 1.6mm air hole.

It also helps to use juice that has 50% or more vg.

The thread is less about my setup and more about seeing what works for other people. Anyway ill post it. Chi you clone, 500 mesh rolled almost solid, 28 or 26 gauge kanthal depending on my mood. Anywhere from .5 to .8 ohms. Sony 30 amp 18650, I atty, aga t 2 , and a viscious ant kracken. I'm contemplating going to ss cable again and possibly adding an ekowool sleeve but hoping i can hear about some cool setups on here.

I run a 28g dual micro coil at 1/16th" on my nimbus right now at .5 ohms and its a cloud machine. Id recommend micros or the nano dragon builds with cotton if you want awesome vapor production and flavor. You dont need to go super sub-ohm with micros to get clouds either, your batteries will thank you! :vapor:

Yep, you have to set up a genesis style atty perfectly in order to get big clouds out of it. I would say my RSST is the weakest in this regard for me compared to the IGO's. I have found that solid mesh wicks tend to absorb a lot of heat and are the toughest to get good vapor out of. The cable really has been surprising, since I would think that it would absorb even more heat than solid mesh but that hasn't been the case. I think the boundary heat transfer from the mesh sleeve to the underlying cable might be the reason, but I am not sure.

Wrapping cotton or sleeve silica/ceramic fiber around a steel core is a great way to thermally and electrically insulate it. I've done it with cotton, and it works well, but replacing said cotton when it starts getting burnt or changing juice really gets old. The rinse and dry burn of straight stainless steel is much more convenient but the initial setup is definitely trickier.

To your final point about cotton in the Trident, I don't own one but I do know that cotton is generally better in a dripper. The key is to get only a small amount of compression on the cotton wick without choking it. Its not good if it is too loose either, so there is some experience required.

^ This plus airflow. You want to have the coil near the airhole and NOT wrapped in cotton. You should have the air flow freely around it. Look up the Micro Coil for Flavor, Vapor and TH thread. Insane amounts of info there.

This micro coil setup cranks all the vapor I could want.
28 ga Kanthal A1 - 11 wraps around a .055" mold / jig / mandrel weighing in at 1.5 ohms on a bottom fed RBA on a bottom fed mech.

All great insights!
I've tried all kinds of builds in my genesis style attys, great flavor, but not the kind if clouds you can get from a dripper...
Having said that, I started doing builds inspired by ITEO in the dragon thread, and the auto dripper from RiP Trippers. I'm now getting dripper level clouds. It goes like this:
Unravel some SS rope, take a couple strands and bend them in an "L" shape. Put the long end in the wick hole (or holes). They can just dangle there, as their only purpose is to break the surface tension of the E liquid in the wick holes.
Put a bed of cotton over the wick holes (on top of the short end of the wires).
Build your nano/micro coils and make sure they sit horizontally on top of the cotton bed. It's little weird to do as gennies are designed to have its coils vertically. Easy to do with some practice, though.
Give a tilt to saturate the cotton. Plumes like an RDA with a similar flavor signature.
I do keep one of my genesis setup with mesh/cable/ribbon, just because I like the flavor now and again.

for me i will run a .8 ribbon dual coil in a igo-w 3 under 4 over wrap and get average of .3 ohms.
being sensitive to pg i use only 100% vg diy juice. on a 18650. 1/16 air holes.
dont matter if its on my nem, chi, or any other mech mod i may have and its great for clouding.
plus retains a lot of flavor, but being my juice is diy i always add a lil extra extract to give me the best of both worlds.

you may wish to experiment with a dual or single tricro... I run those sometimes and they work well,, but I seem to be slightly prone to the ribbon in my own personal vape experience...

here is a link to how to build a tricro.

I stand corrected. Today i grabbed 100 percent organic cotton from cvs beauty section. Its much fluffier than the other cotton i got from the medicine isle. The vapor with 2 microcoils around .35 ohms and the cotton is immense after dripping some bobas bounty. I think im done with my gennies, it was fun perfecting the builds with and all the trial and error but so far it seems my heart is in rdas.
