Hello all,
I will start by saying that I am still smoking analogs, and while I want to quit, I just don't know if vaping is meant to be the replacement. It all started yesterday....
I formely used to be a mistic smoker. I quit smoking for a month using these. But I got tired of charging, and I'm a heavy smoker and vaper, so at 15 dollars a package of cartidges, I just didn't see the point.
I followed advice from this forum, and purchased a 510 Ego C Twist, and a smokeless image XL battery. So far, I HATE my ego twist. And I''ll explain.
I ordered my usual eliquid that I love from Totally Wicked eliquid in American Red Tobacco. I got three other samples, three from vaperite, and one from halo. I also ordered a resurrector XL 1.7 ohms, and some phoenix bottom coils from altsmoke. Excited, I filled up my ressurector with a syringe, and also filled up (correctly might I add) a phoenix bottom coill with my american red tobacco, but my twist on 3.2 volts, I was quickly disappointed. Both taste like crap. Burnt, produces alot of vaper.. but just disgusting. But that has been my experience with everything I've stuck on my ego twist- I tried the kanger t3's- Hated them. They mute the taste so much I went back to cigs. On my smokeless image battery, I tried there clearomizers, better, but nothing to write home about. I will admit that the first time I ordered my X2 battery- it was defective, they sent me another one, I don't have an adapter, so IDK what the taste would be like on that battery. Still I like it better than my ego.
Out of sheer anger and frustration yesterday, I thought maybe it was the eliquid. So I filled other eliquids with ressurectors and phoenix bottom coils. The only eliquid I could actually taste was Halo juice using a ressurector- but that tastes exactly like a flowery candle wax I burn in my house. That eliquid was there freedom juice. Yuck.
So, I have 60 wasted dollars downstairs sitting on a plastic plate in my kitchen. I am scared to try anything else. I am also livid, :mad:because I don't understand why this crap is so complicated. I also have no interests in trying anymore clearomizers, or tanks. Id rather taste the product than have clouds of vapor. Every thing I have tried makes me feel like i'm vaping nothing but burnt rubber. I am so frustrated. Does anybody have an ideas? I appreciate any input.

Unfortunatly vaping is a bit of trial and error. But a bit of advice would be either to find a brick and mortar shop near you or to find a vapers group(Bluegrass Vapers) and find a meet near you and there you should find at least several people willing to let you try thier rigs and juice to get some of the trial and error out of the way. As to juice recomendations, thats a bit harder. It is really down to taste. Ive tried bobas bounty(people seem to love it) and I think it tastes slightly better than my socks smell after a 4 hour workout. Unfortunatly that kinda means a bit of trial and error on the flavor front. UNLESS you go with the flavorless e-liquid.

Good luck if you decide to stick with it.

For the pheonix its going to taste like burnt medal for till the coil get broken in, i would look into getting a boss mod to start with before you start playing around with variable voltage. Also look into the vivi nova tanks, they are awesome and you will not be disappointed, once you figure out that, then move up to a variable voltage device, and you will be all set. Let me know if this helps if not, feel free to give me a yell and I will see if I can help you out any other way

Are you sure your at 3.2 volts and not the opposite end of the scale? Its so frickin hard to read the settings. But i highly suggest you try a "Mop Head" Stardust CE4 clearomizer. Make sure you get a 2.8 ohm head for it. Slap it on your twist set at 3.2 volts and your almost guaranteed to not get a burnt flavor. At $5 its worth a shot before giving up.

its tuff to find what works best for you,its hard to give advice on what to get because each person has different tastes, not to mention if your a current smoker your taste buds are shot so you need very strong flavors to even taste anything so over time after quitting analogs things will change for you and what you hate now you might prefer later.
personally i use vivi novas almost exclusively currently, and while they do mute the flavor of your juice slightly there not half as bad as any other tank i have tried.

i love the flavor of dripping but its just to much maintenance and to much of a pain to do on the go and have looked at many bottom feeders but they all sound like they leak,i almost got a Vapage V Mod XL bottom feeder but these days i cant live without a variable volt/wattage device.

dont give up on tanks because you tried one or two there are 100's out there and each one performs differently and each one takes some getting used to to get the most out of it.reading reviews before buying anything is a good idea but keep in mind three people with the same device can all have difference opinions and experiences with the same device, in the end its really going to depend on what works best for you. it took me almost a good two years to find a few devices that would 90% satisfy me,still looking for that perfect vape and device.

pesonaly for the twist batterys i use a vivi nova 2.5 with a 1.8 ohm atty and works great.

IMHO - VV is more of something for someone who has been vaping for awhile.

I vaped 3.7V devices for 2 years before I started messing with VV.

I have tried many tanks, carts, DC, clearomizers etc but nothing gives me the flavor, vapor, and throat hit of a plain ol Joye 510 atty.

My reccomendation is to pick up a few of these (not LR's) and try dripping. When you first get one, blow it out as they come with some kind of lubricant that doesnt taste very good when you vape it. Just wrap a paper towel around the threaded end and blow through the open end. Once you've done that, drop 3 drops of your fav e-liquid on there and give it a whirl. If you are still using your ego twist, make sure the voltage is at like 3.7 to 4.0 at the most. If you find you dont like your ego twists, then just grab some regualr ego batteries. These batteries should last you at least a day on a full charge so if you have 2 you should be all set.

Good luck.

As you want flavor more than anything, you might want to give dripping a try. You can pick up a cheap atty for less than $10 just to see if it is for you, then if you like the flavor you get from that, but don't want to have to drip all the time you might want to check into bottom feeders, they are simple to use and give the same flavor that dripping does without having to carry a bottle and drip.

We have a couple of modders here on ECF who make small bottom feeders for around $30.

I hear you!

i haven't got the best of luck (many lost €'s on bad stuff) but equipment and taste is the worst. I have decuided on clearo's and twists for now, but i don't have the satisfaction anymore. Maybe it was a new-toy thingy. Just ordered a lot of different juices, mg's and vendors alike. Don't want a "Provari" (sorry for this) to see it is just the juice.

I spend to much money on this already to not let it happen, i still smoke, but not as much as was, but it is upping...

i'm also trying steeping, cleaning, changing heads,... what else is there... GL to you!

Here's my suggestion.

Get good with what you got. You say you don't like the Twist, so just put it away for a few days. Play with the X2 for now. Fill it up, keep it charged and keep it with you. When you feel like a smoke, take a vape or two. If it still tastes like crap, then have a cigarette. But just keep trying it out a few times every day. Many times, juices taste better after they've sat for a while. And sometimes atomizers take a matter of hours or days to get broken in and work at their best. It sucks but it's true.

And you may be right. Vaping may not be meant for you. In that case, after you've tried it for a while, sell the stuff on the classifieds here or on Craigslist. or give it to a friend or relative who may be interested.

Lastly, I'd say if the Mistics worked for you then you may wish to just go back to them. Keep trying out different samples of juice and buy a few extra batteries. If you can make 1 cartomizer last a day then you're vaping for $20.00 a week. Still a little pricey, but when I was smoking $20.00 wouldn't even last me 2 days.

Not everyone needs an eGo or VV to be successful.

Good luck!

i agree with johnnie price dont give up you'll find something that works for you. my fist kit was the BLU's they were absolutely horrible and totally turned me off to ecig's at first because of all the frustration but i kept at it because i new the possibility to quit a 20 year habit was there. eventually i found stuff that worked for me and was able to stop smoking all together.

Terri have you watched Grimm Green or Phil Busardo on you tube? I am visual learner so show me. Boy have I said dumna** to myself at times afterwards. Phil does a number of juice reviews and there are other people as well. Today I found a PIF (pay it forward) group that trades different juice with each other. I found I hate tobacco flavors they tasted nasty and burnt. I like fruit and and deserts. I haven't tried the vendors you mentioned. I order from people when I can UP the taste. And it takes the taste buds a while to come around. Whats your nic level? its taken me 4 months to find an all day vape. But I have tried some really good juice. Are there any vape shops around where you can go try different juices till one hit the spot? PM me if you would like the vendors names. Hope this helps.

I understand your frustrations. When i started a few months back I tried just about everything. Carts, clearos, and attys and what not. I spent a lot of money trying to get it right. IMO it really sounds like you should try dripping. You can pick up a phoenix rba for about ten bucks and get close to about 15 drops in the small recessed chamber. Don't worry about the rebuilding aspect of it because you can always dry burn. Good luck.

I started with a v2 cigalike, and quickly switched to a Twist. I personally had no problem being a noob and using a vv device. I tried a Mini Vivi, and while it worked, I still needed to try other delivery devices. Second buy was a Splitfire, and it delivers great flavor. I the n went to a cartimizer tank (IBTanked), nad thaat's what I currently like best. I also experimented with different OHM heads. I found my best own liking to the 3.0 OHM.

I also tried different juices. I started with a tobacco flavor, which I didn't care for too much. I'm now vaping fruit and citrus juices.

Part of the problem could be in the juice your vaping! Try something other than the tobacco. That's what your trying to get away from, isn't it, tobacco?

I feel your pain. I had a lot of frustration when I was first starting, too. It seemed like the attys wouldn't work or I fried them and everything tasted horrible. Things were leaking all over the place and all the juices tasted too sweet to me.

This isn't the easiest hobby to take up, but if you are patient and give it some time, it's totally worth the effort. I can't recommend a magic solution to your problems because different things work for different people. I only know that I didn't feel totally satisfied with my vaping until I bought some stardust clearos to screw onto a twist. I almost never get a burnt taste with them and if I do, all I have to do is tip it up so the juice runs down toward the drip tip and the next vape is golden. I have never ruined one to the point that I taste burnt wick with every vape. The flavor is very good and so is the vapor. It's easy to unscrew the drip tip, use your bottle to fill to the line, screw the drip tip back on and vape. They work well with twists. GotVapes has the rebuildable ones so when your atty dies, you can dump the juice back into your bottle, unscrew the bottom, unscrew the atty, and screw a new one on. Very easy to do.

Your juice should never taste burnt, but please remember that your taste buds are just coming back to life from smoking, so juices will sometimes have better flavor and sometimes won't have any flavor at all. That will happen no matter what setup you use.

I hope you don't give up and you find what works for you. Please remember that everyone here wants to help and we will all answer your questions as well as we can. I think the suggestion of a brick and mortar store nearby or a vape meet is a great one. That way you can experience vaping the way it's meant to be and find out why things are going wrong for you.
