Maybe this will be the next claim against vaping.

I believe the next stage on the attack on vaping will be the claim that it's carbon footprint in terms of actually producing the devices is more costly than actually using a real combustible tobacco.

The main area of focus is the Lithium mining.

Lithium is third element in the Periodic Table of the Elements and fairly abundant in the earth’s crust. Yes, demand and prices have been dramatically climbing because of energy storage and consumer electronics, but the metal is out there.

Is There Money To Be Made In Lithium Mining?

Things to pay attention to:
  • Evironmental Legistation
  • Bills that refer to lithium trade

Question they might ask,
  • Is the health impact worth more than the environmental impact of Vaping?

Well, if Li mining is concerned, then every single cordless and wireless product currently on the market, from cellphones to cordless drills, and throw in electric cars, are bad. Haven't heard that argument being made about turning in our phones, tablets, and cordless drills to save the environment. Vaping is like a pimple on an elephant if Li production is the issue.

Well said! And you never cease to delight and inform, Eskie![emoji4]

Good point Eskie,

I have to point out that this is highly spectulative but, I am trying to see what be the potential if certian world events were to unfold badly. (talking about another major world conflict)

I would feel that they in big government might fake a Lithium shortage and make a claim that we would have to scarifice certian things to just get by. I'm not saying any of this is will happen but , it's just a forecast based on current events such as what's happening in the South East Asia.

I see the play as, FDA finally denicotizes cigs then kills off vaping becuase we have to ration lithium technology usage. Only the top earners( I.e the 1%) are secure in the lithium rations. We all revert to old Ni-cad batteries and the whole idea ever using a lithium ion battery gets forgotten by the masses.

Haha, this sound so 'consipracy theory'-ish but, have at it.

Well I'm not a big one for conspiracy theories, and I really don't think vaping Li-ion batts is ever going to become an issue considering how many other uses for these puppies are already out there, but let's say this issue one day rears it's ugly head :)

Li-Ion batteries are very convenient for a lot of things, but in no way required. We can power our vape from any power supply that put out the watts we want to vape at, AC power, pretty much any other battery chemistry out there, and heck ... Raidy once designed a mod that used a tea light for heat.

Besides, with all the serious issues facing us today like the one you mention, even if this comes to pass it's pretty much a non-event in the great scheme of things.

Ya, I'm not going to lose much sleep over this one

The last one I saw was a carefully orchestrated piece of misdirection that used the fact that nicotine temporarily constricts blood flow to attempt to prove that ecigarettes cause heart disease worse than cigarettes. One of the most willfully bad pieces of science I've ever seen

Meh. There are several promising technological breakthroughs coming for high output battery production, some of which completely get away from lithium ion.

Here's just one of those breakthroughs.

A Better, Safer Battery Could Be Coming to a Laptop Near You

There's a very large push to get away from lithium ion technology. The thing that will kill our reliance on lithium ion batteries will be a newer, safer high output battery.
