MBV Hazlenut coffee

Hey all,

Just wanted to share my thoughts on Mt. Baker Vapor's Hazlenut coffee. My wife bought this and I pretty much stole it from her. I thought that the idea of this flavor sounded downright nasty....and even teased her about ordering it. When it came in , she thought it was OK...but I secretly loved it.

Funny thing is that I get a toasty buttered popcorn flavor. A little bit of coffee flavor but much more of a toasty buttered popcorn. Sounds strange, I know... and I am sure this flavor would not be for most people but I am digging it.

I am finding quite regularly the flavors that sound fantastic to me I detested when it finally got here...and the stuff I thought sounded nasty has surprised me quite a bit.

Anyhoo... anyone else tried this liquid and like it? Anyone else get a popcorn taste from it? I read a much older thread from someone who said they also got that taste.

I know bashing MBV is pretty much the "cool crowd thing to do", so doing my best to avoid bashing them for the sake of it...

You will find that happens a lot with MBV. I think its pretty standard that mostly everyone starts out vaping MBV liquid, because its so damn affordable and they have every flavor you could think of.

Im definitely a self proclaimed liquid snob. But I wasn't always so uptight about it.. first six months of vaping I tried all of the popular cheap priced vendors I could find.. Id order 10 flavors, average liking 2 of them. Eventually I had enough of that and started trying the high priced liquids from places like VapeRev or Elevated.. Far less dissapointments.

Anyway, what I wanted to say was, when it comes to MBV, my personal opinion is you will have the best luck with the simplest flavors, and the most ordered flavors. Something obscure that rarely gets ordered, most likely the person mixing your order hasn't mixed that liquid in a long time, if ever, and its gonna come out borked. Stick to the simple, single flavor liquids, or the very popular concoctions. I dont hold MBV very highly in the liquid kingdom, but they're not all bad.


I still think they make the best butterscotch flavor out there. And I have tried some expensive butterscotches.. but for pure, no nonsense, tastes like your sucking on a yellow celophane wrapped butterscotch hard candy, MBV nails it.

So I am not the only one. Buttery or greasy popcorn must be their specialty. That is exactly what their banana nut bread tasted like (to me) even after a five week steep, unfortunately unlike you I did not care for it one bit. I even complained, which I very very rarely do. Was told to steep it longer.

I will admit, I have not thrown it out and smelled it a few days ago and it did smell better, been close to three months on my shelf now. Doubt I will dirty another clearo with it to try it though.

I have tried the caramel coffee twice now, once, it was delicious, this time it is almost too gross to vape. Could be that I've been spoiled by my Nautilus (too much of a coil killer to vape on my bvcs) or it could just be the nature of small batch operations. I hope the hazelnut coffee is consistent for you!

Everyone's comments are duly noted. Mostly I posted outloud to myself to see if anyone else felt the same way. I'm finding I cannot trust my own judgment about what I will actually like in flavors. And even though the description of the Hazelnut Coffee doesn't nail that taste, I like it a great deal. It's sort of a smoky flavor. Like a roasted hazelnut I guess, but the coffee taste doesn't come through very much for me.

Anyway...what I think I will like and what I actually like have been two different things.

i got the hazelnut coffee as a free sample once because i had forgotten to specify what i wanted as the sample. i liked it a lot but it did not taste like buttered popcorn to me. i got coffee with a nutty flavor and it was quite nice.
