So this is my first mod. I just grabbed a clone online. It's supposed to house 18650, 18500, & 18300 batteries. I grabbed some vtc4's... Charged them this morning let them rest until 11 pm when I got home. I've been so excited to get home to finally use it.

I put my battery in, but the casing seems way to big. There's about an inch of wasted space inside, and the battery rattles around. I quit messing with it because I don't wanna mess up the battery. Am I missing something or is this just a cheap mod that wasnt built correctly? [emoji53]

I appreciate the help!

You didn't tell us which mod you're trying to use, but most tubes that accept 3 different battery sizes are either telescopic or they have several sections that you can choose from to fit your particular battery length.

I'm going to guess your adjustable tube has segments and your assembly has them all. Often the joint is so perfectly machined it is difficult to find. Try to disassemble the tube into it's components & reassemble only the sections you will need to make contact.

I think you should search YouTube for a review of yours. If you cannot find your brand, the popular Nemesis may represent the concept.

It's not telescopic, it has sections but I've tried sticking it together every which way. It's either way too big with about an inch room or too small to screw it together with the battery.

If & when it only slightly too small to screw it together, address the top & bottom caps.

I cannot see detail of the top cap, but you may be able to back off the center pin, install the atomizer, screw the center pin back to make contact with the atomizer. That center pin is often a 2 piece, male / female, threaded design that can be adjusted for length for accurate battery contact.

If you can find the right review, YouTube will explain it far better that I ever can.

Hey thanks for your help. The bottom cap was the problem. I couldn't get anything to unscrew (im a wuss) so I took it to my local shop. They got it unscrewed. Thankfully a dude who was shopping was in and he actually got it to work. So thanks dude with an engineering degree! I've learned my lesson buying cheap. It's my first mod, so I didn't want to shell out tons of cash, in case I prefer regulated mods. So we'll see how this goes, if it's good my next paycheck will produce some new authentic toys!

Sometimes it's best to learn on cheap stuff.
I'm glad you got it steaming. How's the vape?
Amazingly! So much nicer then what I was using! I'm so stoked. I recently just got in to rba's and mods a few months ago. I'd been using eGo's for so long. I've been studying my .... off trying to learn as much as I can about batteries in order to feel comfortable enough to get a mech. It was a bummer when I couldn't get it to work. But I'm so thankful it is now! I like it so much I kinda wish I had bought a nice one lol. It's got these sweet goats engraved on it though, so it was hard to say no haha. [emoji38]

Get a nice one and keep this one for a backup or to take out where you might damage or lose a nice one.

Yes definitely. Now for the hard part of trying to decide on which one, I'm so in love with the skeleton key, but they're way pricy... The used ones I've seen are all pretty scratched up and I think that would bother me.

You'll be disappointed if you expect authentics to be noticeably different than a high quality clone.

I've repaired hundreds of mechanicals for three local shops, both authentic and clones and most are identical in build quality and design when compared to their authentic counterpart.

All mechanicals require a bit of fiddling and knowledge ( which is why they are sold as advanced user items).

Be sure to research any mod you intend to purchase before spending any money.

I'm not expecting the actual mod to be different. I'm expecting to have something more on the lines of having more info available, more reviews... ect.

I understand it's for advanced users, that's why I haven't gotten one until now, since I now feel comfortable about using one. I've been reading and studying and learning as much as I can for a while now and am continuing to do so. These mods are dangerous and you need to know what your doing. If you dont, that's when things go wrong. I understand that and it's always on my mind when using this and will always be. [emoji4]

It was actually a simple fix, just not for me since the bottom cap was screwed in so tightly. I'm not very strong.

Check out fasttech.
It's a great source of information for buying clones.
When you find a mod, check both the reviews AND the discussions on the product page.
Those guys live for Clones and really break them down.

It's China so obviously, it'll take a bit but yes you can pay extra to expedite shipping.
They are well known and a good vendor.
The free shipping option (if order is over $20) takes about 10 days to Southern California from China.

Oh thats not bad at all. I was looking at 15-20 days free shipping. I paid extra for dhl it took 5 days (thats including a weekend) so 10 days is perfect. Awesome thank you!!! My boyfriend orders stuff from China that's taken a month and a half so I'm just being paranoid [emoji4]

Even if you don't buy from fasttech, use the site to do research. They have thousands clones from every clone manufacturer. Multiples of each from a different maker.
The discussion pages are very very good for finding info before purchasing.
It's an excellent resource.

Like Bad Ninja said earlier, a lot of fasttech's value is in the reviews & discussions. When we are in a hurry, many of us read them 1st & then order the Chinese mod from a North American supplier . It's a little more expensive, but quicker.
