Mech - reversed battery?

I have a battery that won't make contact in my new Stingray clone, the wrapper on the bottom doesn't allow for the wider contact. It works fine though if I flip the battery. Just curious if this is safe in a mech - I realize it's a big problem in most regulated devices, but it seems like it should be okay in a mech. It's a good battery, but it's the oddball (I have a bunch of samsung 25r's that I normally use, and two keeppower IMR's. The keeppowers are the ones with the thicker wrapper).

Is it okay or no?

The odds of something going wrong are pretty slim, generally, buy why take that chance since the result of things going wrong is total worst-case scenario?
