Unhooked, I agree that mech mods present dangers. But the kickback you are getting is that you are using yours in an unsafe manner and talking about it very cavalierly, rather than taking the steps you should to make it safer, and you know better. You do, I think. I don't know if it's a risky behavior you enjoy, laziness, or whatever else?
I am under the impression that most mech mods are dangerous due to User Error, and lack of safety features for those of us who may not be well versed in safety issues, or may not want to take that risk. You are actually demonstrating how unsafe mech mods can be in the hands of someone who is not well versed in safety issues, and JOKING about the risks once they are pointed out to you, rather than saying, "Hey, that's a good idea, I'm not going to stick my repeatedly misfiring mech mod in my pocket anymore without adding safety features.... I'm pretty sure it's going to catch fire one day." How is that remotely defensible in your mind? It's not kickback, it's concern.
