Hey Guys-

So I am fairly new to this forum, but have been vaping consistently for about 2 1/2 months, and dabling since like last june with cigalikes.

I currently vape egos on the go, and a vamo at home, usually with Vivi Novas. I have a DID clone and a Phoenix RBA, which I am still trying to figure out the whole SS thing.

I have been wondering for a while what the appeal of getting a mechanical mod is (so no VV or VW), something like the Smok Natural. They look pretty damn sexy, but I have been wondering if they are really only for RBAs or if you can use them pretty easily with Novas, Carto tanks, Etc., and what the benefit of having them is. I have searched around, and I can't quite figure it out, besides working with Low Ohms (which in my mind would then make it seem like they wouldn't work well for standard things like the Vivi or carto tanks). Any advice would be great!

Thanks!

You can use anything on them that you want. My wife is currently using a Galileo on lone from a friend, with some regular clearo's from smokeless image. I know I know Blasphemy, but it works excellently for her. You can stick anything you want on most of the mechanicals and be fine most of them have a plethora of different adapters with them.

What's your budget but I will say that if you want a quality US made mech mod for the lowest price, you want this

PureSmoker LEGACY Standard [18650]

or this

LEGACY Mini [AW IMR 18350]

You can also buy the tubes separate and just switch them out.

I don't think there is a better mech mod under $100

I have to say that looks much better than many of the $50-60 China mechs around. And not that many dollars more.
They should offer a flat top version too, that would have been awesome.

Mechanical mods appeal to me because I eventually drop my stuff, and no soldered wires or electronics to damage gives me some peace of mind. Just like any unregulated mod, if you find the resistance that works for you, it vapes well. I use 1.6-1.8 ohm clearos, 2.4 ohm attys and 1.5 ohm dual coil cartos and they work well for me. No RBA's in my plans at this time.

I think it's a matter of variety, unless you simply must have vv/vw. I have both, and use them in different situations.

If you want to get your feet wet in mechanical mods, the KTS (also called the Chi Chi here) and the KTS-100 are inexpensive imitations of the more elegant expensive mods. They are in the $30-50 price range and work very well.

personally im not a fan of mechanical mods, they are just tubes with a switch and most are ungodly expensive,if you want something un regulated get yourself a metal flashlight and replace the bulb with a 510 connector and your good to go.
i can see some liking them, some are very nice looking and might even have the exotic feel to them but personally i see it as paying more for less.

Mechanical mods are great for use with Rebuildable. You can run a 1ohm or sub 1ohm coil without the worry of breaking your switch or frying circuitry. Some mods won't even let you run an attie at 1ohm (provari anyone?) There's' also the fact that there is no wires or circuitry. If something breaks or malfunctions more likely than not you can just go to your local hardware store to fix it.

If you want to get into mechanical mods for super cheep, Hoosier Vapes has a china gg that's looks real nice and works well enough. It's by no means as nice or well made as a real GG, but for $35 shipped who cares? I've had the chrome plated brass version for about a month now and really like it. I just ordered the gold one today. If you want to don't wait too long. It will sell out.

So the advantages of the mechanical mods are that they're more durable -- is that right? And if you're using an RBA anyway, then you can perfect your build rather than having to adjust the voltage of something like the Provari, so maybe it's less necessary to get a fancy PV?

I guess that makes sense to me -- are there other reasons to use mechanical mods rather than something like the Provari? What if you're using cartos in addition to RBAs? Do mechanical mods still work?
