that's kind of why i haven't pulled the trigger on one yet. that and i'm waiting to see if i can get my hands on a billet box. it's small and durable it seems. even though it isn't mechanical.

i don't know anything about bottom feeders. do you squeeze them everytime you want to take a pull? are they easy to floor or burn?

damn man, now you just got me looking at reos. they mini is TINY. i'll probably just get one of those. the "squanking" doesn't sound like that big of a deal.

i just want something that's better than my inferno vapor wise and i can just throw it in my pocket and isn't bigger than an altoids box or around that size.

I "squonk" like every 6-10 pulls or something, it's def. not a big deal and you get used to it quickly. Silica wicks can take pretty much anything you throw at them, so if one forgets to squonk and get a dry hit it's no problem.
I have the VV Grand, but I really really want a mini as well.... Must....resist.... :D

yeah, i'm pretty much sold on the mini after some research. i just want a simple mod i can throw down the stairs and fit in my pocket. the mini sounds like it will last all day so that's good enough for me. when i'm home i can just use my passthrough. sweet. glad you pointed out the mini. no i'll look into rbas.

I'm in the middle of ordering a Mini 2.1 myself right now! :)
The 2.1 is the model to go for as the other minis aren't compatible with so many RBA's.
I have the Reomizer(a small chinese rba modified to bottomfeed), but he stopped selling them because they're not very solid. You can still get them through a PM though.
I have a eBaron Dripper Spiral on it's way, which can be bottom fed, so I'm looking forward to something a bit more sturdy than the Reomizer. :)

The mechnical mods can be designed to last a long time. I have a GGTS and Omega that are still working after four years. They do not have the variable voltage or power settings like a lot of the new Mods. However, there are ways to get that feature, like using a Kick. Make sure you understand that something like the Kick will require an extension or the use of a shorter battery.

It occurs to me that this might be a generational thing, specifically, for those of us coming to vaping now, having the ability to alter the voltage or wattage is a no brainier, why wouldn't you choose that!

For those of us that started vaping before the Vamo, Provari or Twist and who were forced to learn the dark arts of wick, coil and battery management, mechanical mods, with their inherent longevity and reliability remain the preferable method.

New courses for new horses?

wrap my coils save a ton of money and i should be fine. i have no desire to get a vv mod like an itaste that is bound to fail. the provari is just too big. the reo mini 2.1 or 2.0 can fit a 1500 mah battery in it and is TINY. maybe down the road i'll get a provari if i don't love the reo when i get one. i want a bullet proof mod i can put in my pocket and not be obnoxious. i think you can kick a mini too if you get smaller batteries.

Allot of the clones out there are not that bad. You'll still get the same flavor, vapor, and TH as long as your building the coils and ss wick correctly. When I compare my Cobra to my Aga-T, I can't tell the difference other than the Cobra being a higher quality build due to the material it's made from. I almost pulled the tigger and bought a Zen atty U the other night until I realized that it wouldn't make any sense to purchase another atty when I'm satisfied with the ones I have now. It's like buying a second TV for my bedroom when the one I have is perfectly fine.

To be honest, I'm kind of sick of seeing Gen atty's going for the same price as high end pv's. It's hard to find a Gen atty not made from China that's under $100. It makes no sense, but I know in the end I will still buy them because it's the standard price nowadays. My wife has been killing me lately for spending so much on vaping stuff. I've only been vaping for a little over 2 months now and realized after purchasing so much stuff (guessing I needed to catch up since I'm pretty late for the game) I haven't had time to just sit back and just enjoy vaping the stuff I got. Lol

As far as mechanical mods. I do enjoy them allot for their simplicity and beauty but use my vv mod mostly building my coils and testing ohms. I did try out the vlr for a bit 0.6ohms-0.9ohms. They were ok. As far as being nite and day, not much other than nite and day for the battery life. I just don't see the point of using a 18650 and getting low vaping time. So I keep them at 1.4ohms - 1.8ohms which suits my vaping needs.

just make sure when you use a vivi nova or a carto, that they are low ohms. thats really all their is too it with mechanicals.
however, rebuildables and mechanicals go together like bread and butter. just my 2 cents. hahaha

Let me get this clear. I can't use my rebuilds that have higher ohms with a mechanical mod because the mods power will blow out the thin wire high ohm coils?

No. Its simply because a mech mod puts out 3.7V, and if you run that on a higher resistance coil, the temperature is too low for a good vape.

Generally speaking, you want your clearos to run at around 8 watts. On a 3.7V power source, you need a 1.7 ohm coil to achieve that. If you run standard resistance, around 2.5 ohm, you get 5.5 watts which is just too low.

Okay, I think I see. I have an IGO-L that I love and usually build at 2.4 to 2.9 ohms and vape at 6.5 to 7.5 watts on my vamo. I keep the vamo on rms setting. I find I can find a sweet spot easier with it set on watts rather than volts. I am waiting for my delivery of the fabulous ithaka and really can't afford to get the gg mod but was thinking about a cheaper chicken one. I don't know what to do now. I might just have to figure out how to make a higher ohm coil for the ithaka and use it on my vamo or innokin SVD.

Great thread for a beginner! Ok i got a Vamo and had my EGO T's as back ups...i dropped my Vamo and broke it and didnt have my back ups...lesson learned! So i started looking at the GG clones because from what i have read they are really tough...after reading this thread i understand about the battery use now but i have a question...i am thinking about getting a Kick to get the variable settings but IF i drop my Mod will it protect the Kick?

Thanks all for the help...this site is awesome
