Media Blasted GG's

These seem to becoming more popular now.
If the media blast made the logo serial number barely visible but still able to be seen lightly,can it be sent to Imeo
or someone else to have it freshened up.

Any experience with this?

Where have you been seeing more of these? I haven't seen anyone post pics of one in a good while now, the only ones I know of are on the GG blog. They looks pretty cool though, definitely a great option for someone with a badly scratched GGTS.

I am rather new and have seen at lease 3 pics....
Can that logo and number be refreshed by Imeo or someone you may know who does that sort of thing?

I don't think Imeo will re do the engraving simply because if he did he would have so many to do. There have been a couple special circumstances but as a general rule there isn't a have your gg re-engraved program or anything.

Also as for re-engraving I would be very carefull. If the item isn't ligned up perfectly or the new engraver doesn't use the same measurements fonts whatever you could get some ghost engraving.

BTW I am by no means an expert I am just trying to say if you decide to find an engraver ask them to see some examples of their work. Make sure they are comefortable with restoring an old engraving and again see examples of this specifically.

I think some engraving fading is to be expected with media blasting. So assuming someone wants a media blasted GGTS I don't think it will effect resale a lot.

I'm really taking about the purchase of an existing one. I would not do it to one I already had.

Does seem like an interesting one to have in a collection.The people that have them seem to like them.

I like the media finish. I don't own one, but I'm one of the few here that abuse and use my GG, so when my finish starts to look really crappy, I think the media finish would be a good option one day to give it that new feel. Until then it will stay comfortably uncleaned in a pocket full of change lol

most of those are chemical treated not blasted... correct me if i am wrong but i think cause guy has done most of the ss ggts mods seen here ...

Yeah, I remember Cuse saying that's the way he was doing them at one point. His method really does leave the engravings pretty well intact whereas the media blasting fades them a lot more

Yeah.. I own that one now. it's pretty sexy when it's got mirror shiny brass ( Bottom, t-tube, and top) complementing the matte.

Hard to describe. It's got a bit of a texture to it, but it's subtle. There is still a shine, but softer.

When I got it, I was floored at how good it looked as compared to the pictures, that I didn't want to use it. Now I have another on the way (also done by cuseguy), and I'll end up using one
