Hi all. Just received a Joye Mega Atomizer. It seems to be clogged?? Air passes through in both directions until I connect it to the battery. Then it allows no air to be sucked. Am I doing something wrong or could the atomizer be defective? This is my first time using a Mega Atomizer... I put about 5 or 6 drops into it before trying to vape for the first time.

Thanks,
Kirk

It's not clogged if air can pass through it when it isn't connected. That's like someone saying they can't breathe and they're still talking. If you can talk, you can breathe. You can try blowing it out if you think it might be flooded and then adjust the filler in the cart.

I'm still inclined to think it's defective and I'd contact the vendor to see if you can get it replaced.

Okay. Contacted the vender. Now, I blew out a good amount of juice then tryed a dry burn. I'm getting some vape now. It was kinda stuck at first, then it started vaping. Tastes nasty. Oh, and yes. The passthrough works fine with other attys. It was like something popped or burnt during the dry burn. There's no filler to adjust. I was under the impression this kind of atty doesn't use filler... am I about to be slapped!??

The drip tip is just fine. You might be dripping too much into the atomizer. When I used the Mega atties I only dripped 6-8 drops in initially and when vapor production started to drop off I'd add another 4-6.

Most new atties have primer, but not all. I buy from a vendor who sends them out dry, which I appreciate. I only have to break them in, which you have to do with any atomizer.

So do I blow out the primer? It's kinda confusing all this stuff doesn't come with directions...

Just blow in your atty till the fluid comes out and wipe it off, then a few more times. On a side note if your just going to drip into your mega i found dethreading your atty makes for a better time when you get near the end of the dripped ejuice. Primer taste bad when its vaped but burning nylon over and over is equal in my book.

This link might help you get off to a better start with dripping:

The ECF Guide to Direct Dripping

And this is just me, but I don't recommend dewicking or debridging an atomizer. I don't think it really makes that much of a difference and you could end up killing your atomizer. The wick actually helps move the juice toward the coil. If you blow primer out of the atty, then put a few drops of PG or juice on it, you should be fine. Contrary to popular belief, wicks do not get burnt or cause clogging. There's a thread somewhere that addresses the "problem" of burnt wicks and debunks the myth.

If your atty is truly clogged (air is hard to move or won't move through it at all regardless of whether it's on the battery or not), give it a rinse in HOT water, blow out the excess water and let it dry overnight.
