So I've been lurking for about a week now. I was introduced to e-cigs around two years ago and started with volt. It helped me cut down on smoking real cigs, but that's all. During a move they got "lost" so I never bought any more. Now my work is promoting smoking cessation so I thought I'ld look back into it. Wow, things are different.

At my worst I can smoke up to 1 1/2 packs a NIGHT if end up going out and usually a pack a day smoker. I'm a nurse, a professional of the health care community, and I'm sick of my dirty habit. I'm sick of my patient's smelling the tobacco on me especially when I'm checking their temps. But I love to smoke, I like having something to do with my hands, feeling the throat hit, and the socializing/camaraderie it brings.

After debating pills, patches, gum, cold turkey, etc...I came back to e-cigs. I'm going to start out right this time. I'm impatiently awaiting the mvp v2 (petals), a couple of tanks and gear, and my first zamplebox. I'm going to go cold turkey off cigs when they arrive in the next few days.

Anyways, hi!

Hi Melissa--I'm Cathy. I LOVE vaping more than I loved smoking. Whenever I quit before (gum, patches, hypnosis, herbs--anything), what I missed the most was opening the pack, playing with the lighter, and that hand to mouth action. With vaping all those things are there, just in a new form. The actual smoking was nothing other than a "bad" thing I kept doing to myself for years and that I was more than slightly embarrassed about (closet smoker). I stopped cigs the day I picked up the first cig-alike and now I have much better vaping equipment and no smelly, dirty habit! You will see how much better it is than cigs, too! Welcome to the forum and congrats!:toast:

Hey Melissa. I smoked a pack a day and quit cold turkey four days ago and the only withdrawal symptom I had was sweating. If I can switch to vaping anyone can as long as they have the right nic level in their e-juice and shower (lol). You'll be analog free in no time. Welcome to the forum and best of luck on your journey! You'll find everyone here is really helpful, so don't hesitate to pester and ask questions.

I really don't consider it cold turkey per se. I'm went for the 6 mg option on zamplebox and I pretty much plan to chain vape cause I won't feel the guilt anymore. I liked vaping flavors on my first go and remember really liking this fruit flavor camel put out before it got banned. I'll still get a good dose of nicotine I thinks. At least that's what I'm hoping happens. >:)

Welcome Melissa to ECF. I was a 2 PAD smoker. I slowly weaned myself off cigarettes with the right setups ( tried the gum and patches with no luck ). When I got down to smoking 3 cigs a day I knew I could quit. That was on Nov 1, 2013 and haven't had a cigarette since.

I went from 24mg nicotine and now I'm at 12 mg.

I started on the EGO-C last June but didn't really get me off the cigs. So I then bought a Vamo 5, Zmax Mini, SID and Provari Mini using Protanks, Aspire BDC and Aspire Nautilus. All worked well for me to give up cigs.

So it might take the right setup for you to be completely satisfied to quit smoking. Hopefully the mvp v2 will be the right setup for you.

Good Luck to You.

Hi Melissa! Welcome to the forum!
I think you'll notice a world of difference. Like you I enjoyed smoking very much. What can I say...it was my one vice. I was highly skeptical about vaping in the beginning but I managed to quit the cigs after only 5 days in. Coming from a smoking a pack to a pack & a half a day I'd say that was pretty good. It took me those 5 days to smoke those last 3 packs. Just pace yourself. I was lucky enough to have bought a bunch of different sample packs to help me find a few flavors I liked with the right nic level. And another thing that was instrumental was this forum & the wonderful people here! I was lucky enough to find this place before I started vaping! I'm not sure I would've been able to do it otherwise.

Good luck! And keep us posted! You can do it!

I was a PAD smoker like you, and didn't want to start out too low, so I went with 18mg for my first juice, I found that I didn't even want an analog with that level of nic. YMMV but I hope that's not too low for you. Welcome to the forums and congrats on the decision to quit!

Welcome aboard!! With the amount you smoke, the 6 mg is probably going to be too low even if you vape like a London Fog. I started out at 24 mg and still hit that thang like there was no tomorrow. Do you have a vape shop anywhere near you?? If you do, beat feet on down there and check out some flavors and different nic levels. It's always better to start high on the nic. You can always cut it back with some VG easily available at any pharmacy. Good luck and good vaping!!!

PS: Good choice on the MVP II, excellent mod!!

Mad Vapes is like 10 minutes from my place. I am going to check them out when my MVP v2 arrives. I am just worried about having any nicotine in my system at all really. The smoking cessation program at work is going to eventually test us based on nicotine levels. If they find nicotine in out system we will miss out on the health insurance discount. I left a vm with our hr wondering when we had to get nicotine free by, but I haven't gotten a response yet. I was even considering 0mg ejuice, but thought I wouldn't have a chance of quitting if I didn't get some kind of throat hit. :/

Hi Melissa..... Looks like you are off to a fantastic start. The MVP 2 is an awesome mod for that price point. Best of luck to you!!!

Too funny my mother is a retired nurse lol and she has been smoke free for at least 15 years but takes little vapes from mine ( just trying itLOL) she say she still gets cravings especially when dad is grumpy. I told her that i can get her a vape with nic free if she wanted she said she would think about it but i think she just likes to feel naughty once in a while lol and yes nursing is very stressful and it is embarrassing to smoke because of our discipline and our peers and patients know it but yet we have to encourage them to quit. And i don't know about anyone else out there but i had to hide it because of my faith because of reproff from my other fellowshipers now i am guilt free all the way around!
