MRS. Thank God you were ok. That such a scary thing to happen. I have heard that before though its really rare. Call the company asap. They should replace the batts with no questions asked.

I charge all my batteries in a baking pan on the countertop incase something like that happens. It's rare but rechargeable batteries are all capable of having that happen. They should always be handled gently.

I'm sorry that happened but happy your ok. Good luck

That's a good idea to put it in a baking pan or something. While I was waiting on a response I did a search here on the forum. Evidently some lady had one literally explode in her pocket!! Scary stuff!!!!!

Typically I charge them on my laptop! Um...don't think I'll be doing that anymore!!!!!!!

I got it at Vaporescense. Those guys are really cool. I'm sure they'll take care of me. I was wondering if maybe I had done something wrong but couldn't see how. When I got the passthrough I got a charger. Well, the one with the non-passthrough didn't come with a charger (seems weird to me.) Anyway, I had a charger from the small one that got me to switch to vaping. Hooked that up to the USB on the Ego charger. Didn't think it would be an issue.

That may have been the issue, I'm not Totaly clear on your set up but I have read numerous times not to mix chargers for different e cigs. I hope that was the what happened. Deffinately don't charge on your computer though. It would be terrible to lose it.

I'll have to ask the Vaporescence guys about it then. They're the one who sold me both egos so if they think that was the issue then they should have let me know I needed to use an ego charger. THANKS!

Sorry to hear that glad you're ok. You aren't supposed to charge ego batts with a 510 or 306 charger or especially a l88b (Blu, Volcano) charger. They have the same threading but the amount of current put thru the charger into the batts is different and can cause them to explode, or melt. The new ego-T batts cannot be charged with a regular ego charger either. I always label all my chargers so I know what they go to some of them look alike and I keep all the accessories in ziplocks labeled too just to make sure I don't mix them up.

Hmm...very interesting. THANKS!!

eGo buttons (the hard plastic ones) tend to do that. I never had issues with mine because I knew it was happening so I always was careful. You can let them know about it sticking, they might replace it also. Other wise just be aware of what the light is doing after you let go of the button.

Yeah, the button is hard (didn't know there was a soft one). You say you knew what was happening so you were careful. What do you mean?

The following chargers will FRY a real correct Ego or 510

Blu, FS510 - reverse electrical polarity
(and there is at least one reverse polarity clone Ego called Ego-J or something like that)

510-T - this charger can fry anything other than a 510-T auto battery.

(And real Ego chargers can damage slim 510 batteries)

Only charge batteries on their correct charger.

And I also recommend for Ego, you only buy Joye or Janty brand (i.e. real Egos) and not buy clones unless the clone is known to be correct polarity and has some special feature you want (like the 3-stage 3-voltage "Ego" at Gotvapes - those are OK)

Howdy from just around the corner in McKinney. Sorry to hear of your troubles. I charge my eGo batts on my USB charger, but I NEVER leave them while charging, and NEVER EVER allow them to charge overnight. The minute...actually the second I see that light turn green, it's off the charger.

Let me know if you need anything...I'd be glad to help.

One more note re clones - the quality can be inferior. If your PT was a clone, try a real Joye Ego PT. Or if the problem was just the charger you used and you want the same PT for some reason (like if it's the 3 voltage PT) - just use the correct charger/supply.

And re using the wrong charger - if it makes you feel any better, you are definitely not the first. One person killed/melted 2 Ego batteries charging them on 510-T charger, another did the same to one. One woman killed eight 510 batteries on an FS510 charger. Multiple people have done this.

With reputable popular vendors - if they call it Joye it's Joye. If a vendor just calls it Ego or Ego-T then it usually is a clone. If it is rebranded with some cool custom name it may or may not be Joye.

If there is a clone item you want that is something Joye does not offer, then sure, try it. But make sure you know if its polarity is compatible with your charger. Like Joye does not offer anything like those "Ego" 3-stage voltage batteries and PTs from Gotvapes. The 3-stage batteries are compatible with normal Joye-compatible Ego charging cables.
